Summary
After the Autobots won the war, captured Decepticons were put into spark prison until what would be done with them could be decided. Shortly after, Neutrals flooded back to Cybertron, and soon the control the Autobots held began to fell apart. Vorns later, and Neutrals control most of the government. Optimus Prime is a shell of himself, and Cybertron's pre-War ills have returned.
Starscream was released from spark prison well after all these changes had happened. Before he can be considered rehabilitated and earn back his T-Cog and commsuite, he needs to pay back the debt he owes Cybertron while a chip in his processor makes sure he doesn't have too many seditious thoughts.
He'd be angry, if he thought there was something to do about it. But rent is due and he has no shanix, so he needs to focus on finding someone with a little extra they'd be willing to spend on him despite how bad he looks.
He finds an Autobot with a guilty conscience instead.

Summary
When the Decepticons first rose up in Kaon and challenged all that Cybertron stood for, Sentinel Prime declared that the rebellion would be crushed within the vorn. Now a quarter century later, Sentinel is dead and the war rages on. Autobot and Decepticon alike forget cycle by cycle what a life free of bloodshed felt like, focused only on their next victory. The Autobots have been split in two - those still on their home planet, and those adrift in the stars, neither side certain if the other still fights on.
On Cybertron, Elita One and Ultra Magnus hold the north against Shockwave and his forces, preparing Hot Rod to assume his role as their Prime once he receives his final frame, convinced that Optimus is lost.
On the Ark, Optimus leads an increasingly exhausted force on an endless journey back to their home, not knowing what they will find once they return, nor knowing what their place will be once they are there.
On the Nemesis, a careful balancing game is played between Megatron and all those around him, none prepared to face his wrath should they challenge him too directly. None save Starscream, who pays a heavy price for his defiance.

Summary
Cybertron has been under the rule of the Primes since time-immemorial. The position has always been passed from creator to creation, ensuring a continuous semi-divine lineage. Until the day that Orion Pax is chosen by the Matrix of Leadership to be its next bearer. From one cycle to the next, a new dynasty is declared to be ruling Cybertron, and Optimus Prime is hailed as their new supreme ruler.
Orion has never been blind to how their society's caste system can often cause more harm than good. He'd hoped to be able to change things with his newfound power, but quickly realizes that the Senate and the priests hold much more sway over his life than he'd expected. There's also whatever is happening with his consorts, who act like their new life is anything but wanted.

Primes traditionally have harems composed of bots from the high-castes of various city states, called their consorts. Allegedly, this is a very desirable position - a cushy life with no worries, their only duty continuing the Prime's lineage. What the people of Cybertron don't know is that the position of consort is more akin to that of a hostage than a real partner. Optimus Prime is also unaware. His consorts are not.

Summary
Starscream is the conjunx of Megatron, Lord of the Decepticons. While the rest of the faction is out fighting a war, he stays at base and focuses on his single duty - ensuring that the heir he carries within him reaches emergence in the best state possible.
Sometimes, it feels like his processor is fighting him every step of the way. He hasn't been the same since the attack that left his mind in tatters.
It doesn't matter though, how much he feels like everything is wrong sometimes, how lonely and restless he gets. It's not like he has anything else to offer the cause.
He wishes his trine could be with him more often, but he'll savour this moment he gets with them as best as he can. He doesn't know how long it is until they're sent out again, far away from him, to battlefields he can't even imagine.

Or, Megatron has shadowplay done on Starscream, and takes him as a mate. A mind as strong as Starscream's is hard to keep down, however, and fights to surface with every passing cycle. Megatron does what he can to keep Starscream well under his control.
Thundercracker and Skywarp have no way to help him. They offer what comfort they can, and hope his mind will be able to fight through.
