Drastic experiences warrant drastic responses, but Shoko’s never been one to indulge in excessive emotion. There’s no reason for her to be traumatized or depressed or anything stupid like that when she’s the world’s greatest reversed-curse technique user and a medical genius to boot; between her treatment plan of nicotine, booze, and miniature lobotomies targeted at any part of her brain that makes her feel anything she’d rather not feel, Shoko’s got this sorcerer thing in the bag.

Summary
It doesn’t feel right, stepping outside while it’s still light out. There’s just a sliver of sun left in the day, and as it slides beneath the horizon, she realizes that it is already starting to snow.
Smoke hangs heavy in the air. The smell’s a sharp contrast to how fresh and clean this round of snow’ll be, but whatever.
It’s out of place on a day like this, but it’s only a brief pleasure, a cigarette; certainly not out of character.
She watches, blithely, as the sun tucks itself behind the skyline, wiping at her mouth with the back of her hand. Cigarette wedged firmly between her fingers, the woman glances over her shoulder toward the morgue’s fire exit, left just an inch open.
It’s freezing outside. Snow settles on the shoulders of her lab coat, dusts the strands of her hair.
Shoko Ieiri pays the cold no mind.
Instead, like clockwork, she turns, and takes seven steps south.
