Summary
The road is empty for miles upon miles, surrounded by yellow hills that sprawl into the horizon. Above Hal’s head, pale stars glitter in a blanket of darkness. He’s wondered before how many are afterimages - the frozen snapshots of red super giants seconds before they explode into supernovas, their cores collapsed into neutron stars or black holes. He’s been closer to them than almost every other being on the planet, has travelled further and seen more than any one person could ever begin to dream of - even held the power to forge the hearts of universes in the palm of his hand - and yet he still always manages to find his way back to Earth, those stars returned to still images that he has to crane his neck to see.

A what if, considering a universe where Hal doesn’t receive a ring from Sinestro at the beginning of the New 52 run. Instead, a yellow one finds him on Earth.

Summary
There’s a presence, lurking at the edge of Sinestro’s mind, persistent in its silent observation. It has sat there for what could be hours or days, time difficult to judge in the vast emptiness of space; he feels it sometimes looking through his eyes, a hint of amusement appearing as an itch at the edge of his consciousness that he cannot scratch.

Summary
The holoprojector flickered to life. The image was of a low quality and half-obscured, hindered by whatever surface the spy droid had hidden itself behind, but clear enough to make out Kestis and the Nightsister in the midst of fighting a company of Imperial troops. They made short work of the remaining soldiers; it was undeniably an impressive display, but not a true testament of the Jedi’s power, judging by Vader’s interest.

Summary
A week after escaping from Koboh, Cal comes to Greez with a truth none of them want to acknowledge: they need to head back through the Abyss on a supply run. Sitting between them is Cal's Fall, and questions as to what the future will hold.

Greez was on his feet before the intention properly registered, a hand reached towards Cal in desperation. ‘Because it’s true, Cal! You remember what I said, about this being a rigged game? Just because you think you hold the cards now, it doesn’t mean your luck’s gonna turn!’ Cal didn’t respond, just kept cleaning the blaster, hand moving up and down across the barrel in a motion that would have been soothing if it wasn’t so damned infuriating.

Summary
Upon further inspection, as she fought the Imperials, she realised it was not so much the feeling of ice, but instead the false coldness that comes from something so impossibly scorching that it sets every nerve ending ablaze. It was less of a glacier and more the core of a star, nuclear fusion releasing unimaginable amounts of energy. All stars eventually collapsed under the force of their own gravity, Merrin knew, but Cal shone with the intensity of the largest and most short lived of stars, doomed to tear itself apart in an explosion of fire, a supernova which left behind a gaping hole in the galaxy - a pit of darkness that consumed and annihilated all light. If she looked, not with her eyes but with the gaze of Dathomir, she could just see the beginnings of an implosion in the Force, a precursor to the combustion destined to follow.
