Smokescreen was dizzy and mildly confused when his optics came online. It didn't take him long to figure out whose sultry voice had awoken him and where he was. He tried to move, but he found himself restrained securely to the berth he was on. He glanced up to meet the optics of the ostentatious medic that had woke him up and none other than the Decepticon leader himself. The situation certainly wasn't ideal, but Smokescreen was never one to give up easily. He'd just have to figure it out along the way.
What could possibly go wrong?
AKA: How I think 'Inside Job,' and the events that follow, would have gone if Transformers wasn't a kid's show, Megatron truly lived up to the name of Cruel and Evil Lord of the Decepticons, and Knock Out was just a bit more sympathetic and a lot more independent.

“Sweet Solus Prime, hammer me to the Pit and back! You’re actually are sealed?!” Bumblebee’s touch lingers on the scuffed window of the broad red chassis. “You’d let a whore desecrate your seals? The holy equipment of a Prime?”
“Is that what you think I am asking for, Bumblebee?”
Bumblebee has no idea what to make of this new Prime. He is kind, brave, overly friendly, and nothing like his previous experiences with the Autobots, who had shunned the minibot for his past, ahem, career choices.
But, again and again, their paths cross. Like destiny. Or like Primus has a terrible sense of humor.
When the Prime comes calling one night and offers a very unconventional mission, Bumblebee, in spite of his tough little loner persona he has struggled to craft, is simply unable to resist.

There is a long blissful quiet between them before the yellow mech shatters it with something that hits D-16 like a shovel to the face.
“Primus… Is this what love feels like?” B-127 sighs, his pixilated vision locked on the silver mech.
The words bore into D-16 spark like the serrated teeth of an energon drill. It digs deep, deep enough to physically hurt.
Love? How can someone love him anymore?
With nothing left but a broken body, after being thrown away like overused trash?
Useless and ruined.
It is almost enough to make D-16 shatter.
Instead, he says, “No, it’s just delirium. Eat something, stupid.”
D-16 and Orion Pax made it to Sentinel Prime's service pod, but only one made it out unscathed. Once he had his cruel fun, Sentinel made sure to throw his garbage away.
Left beyond repair, D-16 is saved from the underground incinerator by a strange little mech who struggles to nurse him back to health.

Blaster doesn't know the first thing about mining, or being a boombox, or cassettes, but he'll play it by audial and figure it out. Eventually.

When Optimus attempted to call Bumblebee out from hiding, eager to bring him back into the fray of active duty by granting him the honor to teach the new Cybertronians here on Earth, he hadn't expected to get sent straight to voicemail. When he tried a second time, assuming that the scout was in no current position to answer him right away he felt a heavy feeling settle in his core. Upon the third ring, he forced himself to focus on the mission to rescue the captured newbuilds as time was of the essence.
He never expected to find his scout at the same location as the captured Terrans, nor could he have ever dreamed about his own scout turning his stinger on the humans present.
