Summary
He raises his hand again when Andrew looks at him, and Andrew holds out his arms in invitation; he's already wet and fucking freezing, no more or less water is going to change that at this point.
"Go on, splash me again," he says. "But you're getting off this damn beach, because I am not dealing with Kevin's attitude tomorrow if Wymack finds your dead, capsicle body here. You can die elsewhere for all I care, just don't make it my problem by doing it in the restaurant’s view."
Andrew's familiar routine of closing up for the night is disrupted by something bloody and injured washing up from the depths.

Summary
After everything, here he is. Dying. Easier than he’d ever imagined. His body wants to die. It’s tired. It’s run its course, this body of his.
Dying hurts, too, but only for a heartbeat. Only for the space of time between the dull cleaver crushing through his trachea and getting stuck in the bones and muscle and viscera at the front of his throat. When his father yanks it back out, the blood is pooling round Neil’s body and the warmth is already seeping out of his limbs.
When the cleaver comes down a second time, Neil is already gone.
Neil Josten dies in that basement in Baltimore. His afterlife is trapped between the Foxhole Court and haunting the people who struggle to grieve him. The only person who can see him is the only person who can save him.

Summary
Neil gets drugged at Eden's. Again. They get him back quickly, but the parallels fuck with everyone and reveal what happened with Nicky the first time around.
But Andrew remains flawed, so doesn’t know anything is happening until he hears Nicky gasp. Nicky makes a lot of unnecessary noises, so this one isn’t especially concerning—not until Nicky’s hand flashes out to grip Andrew’s arm and he says, “Andrew,” with such strained urgency that Andrew’s head erupts into a riot of alarms.
He follows Nicky’s pointed finger and sees, through the thick forest of bodies, Neil. With some guy. Kissing. He’s out of his stool almost before he can consciously register the scene, leaving the scarred black metal toppling to the ground behind him and shoving into the crowd. Something is very wrong. Neil had been too still. Too loose. An unstringed puppet. Andrew knows what Neil looks like when he wants to kiss someone, and that—that isn’t it.

Summary
Their coach sighed, heavily, “Management decided we’ve gone enough years without a mascot. This was their solution.” Sputters and cries of indignation rang out through the empty bowl.
“But it’s not even a fox?!” That was Allison’s voice, loud and indignant.
Intrigued, Andrew brought his gaze to the sorry group masquerading as a team, only to blink at the sheer absurdity of what he was seeing. Standing next to Wymack at the edge of the rink was their mascot. It was orange, hideously orange, with a yellow mane- beard (?) falling around its face. If you were being extremely generous, something like fox ears were sticking out of its head, but they were more like drooping tufts of fur than anything else. Sandwiched between them was a black helmet, but Andrew’s gaze caught on the creature’s eyes. They were too wide to comfortably stare into, an eerie bright blue, and made of similar material to the plastic googly eyes that decorated the kids toys Andrew never was allowed to have.
The mascot- creature- demonspawn from the depths of hell ignored them all to stare back at Andrew.
