“Shut it, Ayres.” The ex-handler shushed. Reminding himself, he quickly added: “And don’t pick up that swear.”Or, two years after the Fires of Raven, Walter (who survived) and 621 (now his adopted child) tried to be normal "father and son" without knowing what normal "father and son" is like. One of them doesn't know how hard he is trying, and the other one wasn't trying in the intended way.
