Odysseus stares down into the water below, eyes filled with a haunting sort of longing. Polites doesn’t know what his friend is seeing down there, but he wishes he could get between Odysseus and the drop and cut his line of sight to it.

It was a worm, because of course it was a worm, the one type of malware Caine wasn’t immune to and that could actually get into his systems without any warning, and as soon as it got in, it did what worms did best: it multiplied itself as fast as it possibly could.

There were dead bodies in the hall. There were dead bodies everywhere. The King was hunting every single man in the palace down like they were a herd of frightened deer fleeing a rabid lion. Pandion and Iollas had chosen to hide rather than run. It seemed safer than attempting to flee deeper into the palace, given that all the doors and windows were locked and barred.

There were… many problems with sailing around the Land of the Giants. Eurylochus and Odysseus both were working to try and find a way out that wouldn’t land them right back in Poseidon’s clutches, but it was… hard.
