    Years later, an injury takes Marinette out of the competitive circuit, draining her of sponsors and confidence. Just when she’s about to give up, a certain skater is in need of a new partner and he’s requesting one person: her.

    “Ch-chat. Chat!” She called out for her partner. She needed her partner. He always knew what to do when she was freaking out, and she was very much freaking out right now. She tried to get up, to get to the window and flag him down, to do something, but Mme. Bustier’s gentle yet firm hands prevented her from moving from her spot on the floor.

    “Marinette,” Mme. Bustier’s voice was firm, and it shocked Marinette enough to finally meet her teacher’s eyes. “You need to stay here—keep pressure on your injury.” She explained gently.

    Marinette gasped a breath, “I-I need Chat,” she whispered.

    Old scars tend to itch if you scratch at them, which is why Marinette moved to New York after her partner momentarily betrayed her in their final battle. But some scars heal shallow and ugly. Seven years never seemed to be enough to heal her own, especially now that she has run out of time. Forces are pushing her back to Paris, back to Adrien. Forces like the four children he has adopted, who seem quite keen on Marinette coming back into their father's life. Especially now that he is engaged to a wealthy woman who wishes to use Adrien and his status to further her own gains. The question is, is it worth picking at old scars if all they do is remind Marinette of her failures?
