“Hey,” he sighs, alarmingly quiet to the ear.Lydia’s still stinging eyes involuntarily drop to below his shoulders, the crisp and neatly ironed suit wrapping his form surprisingly well. If she wasn’t in the pits of despair, she thinks her stomach would flutter at the sight. It looks like he’s about to go to his graduation, the neatness of it all.

Summary
The whole Hale family, except Peter, had been sleeping inside, now probably dead in their beds. Stiles could only hope they’d died of the smoke before the flames got to them.
He jumped in shock as the heavy front door was suddenly kicked down and a bulky figure of a man shadowed the flames roaring inside.
"Holy shit." Stiles let out under his breath.
“Derek!”
-(Stiles finds himself taking care of Derek when the man moves in with Peter Hale, his uncle and Stiles' master, after the Hale manor mysteriously burns down, taking the lives of his whole family with it. Though it soon looks like Derek is the one taking care of Stiles and not the other way around.)-

Summary
The Nogistune and the havoc it caused was the tipping point for everyone. Once freed from the possession, Stiles woke up and found the pack began crumbling apart. One by one they all left, and with crushing guilt, he knows it's all his fault.
The worst part of being left behind is the physical ache you feel at the loss. It's terrible to say, but he wonders if the grief would've been easier to deal with if they had died, mere memories you miss with your entire being but acknowledge they're beyond your reach of this world. But this, this reality of just knowing they are all out there, somewhere alive and what he assumes to be happy, hurts in a way he could never manage to explain.
This was never how he expected to start his senior year.

Stiles felt overwhelmed when he caught sight of Derek smiling—because of him. A knot tightened in his stomach, realization hitting him that he was starting to care a bit more than he was supposed to.

That was what Peter said to Stiles the night he was brought to the palace. And now Stiles was questioning at what cost was he to please Derek.
Stiles could handle the gentle touches and passionate kisses. He wasn’t so sure he was ready for the way his heart fluttered with Derek.
