Summary
“Are you alright?” Olruggio asks, beating Qifrey to the chase of asking silly questions. “I figured you might be feeling a bit disoriented.”
“I’m alright,” Qifrey catches the lie immediately after it slips out, the light smile accompanying it. He bites his cheek, there was no need for it really. “A bit disoriented, yes, you’re right about that, but I’ll be alright I’m… happy to be back.” He’s finished with a truth at least, that has to be progress.
OR
Qifrey is finally free to live his life with no more secrets, and no more lies, to indulge in the comfort he's craved for so long. But it could never be that easy.

Summary
They stared, unblinking red eyes searching for any sign of red staining white fur. There was only dust. Kris’s own blood rushed through their ears, barreling through their chest with a violence, like someone was gripping their heart, wringing it out like water from a sponge. It was the kind of pain that made scraped knees sting just a bit more.
Or, Kris realizes at a very young age that not everybody bleeds.

Summary
It’s stupid. It’s incredibly stupid, Qifrey knows this. But he couldn’t bear it anymore - the image of his dearest friend, of his body sprawled out, limp and fragile and unaware. The bodies that pile up, the vial of tears that are used and refilled - he cannot bear the repetition any longer, the sensation of hurting Olruggio.

Alternatively: Qifrey leaves the Great Hall. As he encounters people on his journey, he’s nudged back to Olruggio’s side.
