Summary
In the aftermath of the Riddler's attack on Gotham, Bruce Wayne steps up to continue his family's legacy of philanthropy, hoping to help Gotham as both Batman and as Bruce Wayne. At the same time, Clark Kent - along with Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen - is assigned by the Daily Planet to visit Gotham and do a report on Gotham's recovery. Clark, however, has a secondary motive in taking on the Gotham assignment: getting an audience with the Batman. And Bruce, only just now hearing the reports of Superman after months of search and rescue, begins to take an interest in his existence and wonders if he will be ally or enemy, friend or foe.

While the escapades of the titular Thomas and his friends are the main focus of the show, there are dozens of other engines living on the island who all have their own lives and stories to tell.
