Summary
Bella Swan is depressed. She's dealt with it for years, and only just recently began on the road to recovery. In the service of this recovery she decides she needs a change of scenery and uproots herself from Phoenix, Arizona to find a new lease on life as she moves in with her partially-estranged father in Forks, Washington. In Forks Bella will meet new people, have new experiences, and be forced to ask herself painful and uncomfortable questions. Who is Bella Swan? What does she want out of life? Who does she want to spend her life with? And what is she willing to do in the service of those things? Summary
Rumi hadn’t meant to cause such a scene. She just wasn’t thinking straight.
Celine had told her Zoey and Mira would kill her if they found out what she was, and Rumi had come to the conclusion that she was probably right.
Her plan, as tenuous a description as that word was, was to cut the patterns out. If she could cut out the parts of her that made her dangerous, that made her less than human, that made her so unloveable, maybe she’d stop feeling so fucking guilty every time Mira or Zoey opened up to her.
They loved each other from the start, but it just wasn't that simple.

Summary
Being a lifeguard was not the plan. It still isn’t, really.
Or at least, it isn’t the long-term plan.
But uni isn’t free, and neither is food or housing, so since she has to be here anyways for school at JNU, she figured that at least she’d get to enjoy the beaches.
Plus, with the advanced training she had from her time as a lifeguard while she (ironically) floundered at UCSD, she’d been eagerly accepted into the fold of Jeju Island’s less experienced team.
So it’s not so bad, Dumb Boy and his ilk aside.
And she does get tons of time to explore the island and its various tide pools, which is great for her morale and her research on the effects of global warming on the species in said tide pools. And sometimes, she gets to help some baby sea turtles get to the water, which feels like actual magic.
So, overall, not a bad gig.
Especially since the two (very pretty, oh my god) girls she noticed seem to have taken notice of her, eyeing her up from under their umbrella, the taller of the two not particularly seeming to care when Zoey sees.
‘Interesting.’Zoey is a hot lifeguard. Mira and Rumi are hot for the lifeguard.

Summary
When Zoey visited her family in Burbank, she didn't anticipate running into a huge wolf-like demon. And it bit her. But she’s sure it’s fine. The bite will heal. And the fevers and chills and aches she’s having are just side effects of the rabies vaccinations the ER doctors gave her because she couldn't tell them the animal was a demon. And those side effects continue for a month because she’s having a bad reaction to the subsequent vaccine doses, which sucks but she’ll be fine. It’s all going to be fine. Right?
