The Draekari are descendents of the sun, children of the dragons that long ago roamed the land. The Amaranth’s are born of the stars, nature spirits bound to ancient magic that is now slowly fading.
As that magic dwindles, the blame falls on the Draekari.
Katsuki, a draekari kin, and Izuku, the prince of Amaranthe, meet as children – an encounter that should have meant nothing and yet leaves a mark neither of them can undo.
Years later, when the Draekari are invited as ambassadors to Amaranthe’s foremost academy, the Astryx Archives, they meet again. But the wold they live in has already decided what they are to each other.

When Izuku enrolls to the most prestigious Engineering college in the country to pursue his dream, and stumbles upon his old childhood friend and lifelong bully, he has no choice but to face his own mind and fight the turmoil brewing within himself. He knows he should stay out of Katsuki's life, but for some reason, he can't manage to even look the other way. Still, Izuku has no choice but to stay in his place, well aware that Katsuki has a strict no-dating rule to ensure his path to success. In what world would Katsuki bend his own rules?
Or, Izuku and Katsuki get closer but never mention it, and it creates an avalanche of unspoken tension that eventually implodes.
Or, everyone else but them can see it, and they're two geniuses that are unfortunately very stupid in terms of love.

Izuku and Katsuki grow closer and closer. Katsuki opens up more and more. Izuku doesn’t understand himself. And all of it gets stripped away in an instant.

"What if we're not late bloomers?" Deku had asked him once when they were very young. “What if we don’t get our quirks? What if our quirks never come for our whole lives?”
Katsuki hadn't been able to answer, then. All he'd known was that they'd be able to do anything together, even if the hero business tried to spit them out just because they were missing bits and pieces. That was until Deku'd told him the truth, anyway. That he'd been hiding a quirk for ten years and Katsuki had just been stupid and trusting.
He doesn't get into UA. Deku leaves him behind and lives the dream alone. Katsuki picks up modelling and turns out to be surprisingly good at it, and after a while he thinks maybe he can make peace with never becoming a hero. This ain't a bad life, after all. There are stalkers and endless reporters but maybe he can make this work.
For all of six years, anyway. Then he figures out his new neighbour has green eyes and cute freckles. And then, Katsuki thinks, maybe god hates him.

Getting a soulmark feels like being hurt.
As if a blade is sliding along his palm, into the divots and lines already in there, creating a new one in its metal wake. Like a thumbnail pressing in and carving a crescent moon into his hand; Katsuki is told that it will pass, and deep down, he knows this, but it does not stop the way his fingers flex and strain and go white-knuckled when his mom stops touching it.
Katsuki wonders for a brief moment, and only for a brief moment, if Izuku is sat at home, stomach churning as his own soulmark appears on the expanse of his body, tracing the etch like permanent ink in his skin. Katsuki blinks it away, and thinks, no, he’ll get one. Zuku will always get one.
(a soulmate au in which fate decides, quietly, that bakugou katsuki and midoriya izuku aren't soulmates. katsuki decides to defy this.)

The relief that fills him is euphoric, but peeking around the door and witnessing Ochaco standing in the eye of a paper-laundry storm with a single eyebrow raised dwindles it quickly to uncertainty.
"You wanna tell me what this is?" Ochaco asks, her innocence betrayed by the curiosity that laces her words and a smile so crooked it's near-wicked.
His mouth parts in confusion until a flurry of white and purple draws his attention, looking just beside her head to see -
A to-go cup, one that would be relatively innocuous if not for the story it tells: a unique lavender wrap cut off by a cream lid, droplets of the same shade dripping from the lip to create waves that 'ripple' at the bottom; a row of mauve boxes curved right along the edge and marked to show that it once held a triple-shot Americano with extra, extra caramel syrup…
And the logo for 'Lavender Lattes', barely legible thanks to the name 'DYNAMIGHT 🖤' scrawled across it.
