“This isn’t just a quick security job or a clean-up job,” Barriss explains, clicking on the small hologram projector she has on her wrist. “There are very powerful bombs buried right below the surface. They’re weight sensitive, so the chances that they didn’t all go off are very high.”
“We have to deactivate them,” Ahsoka fills in, “before they hurt any of the locals.”
Ahsoka has found her calling: working with a peace organization that cleans up communities affected by the war. It’s hard to focus on the job, though, when Barriss Offee has been assigned as her partner, and she’s just as beautiful and competent as ever.
And she’s sorry, apparently.
That makes everything so much more confusing.

She was tall, robed in white from head to toe. Gossamer-thin fabric even covered her eyes. There were no obvious horns or montrals beneath her hood. Her shoes clicked as she hurried gracefully forward to kneel opposite Ahsoka, heedless of the blood on her white clothes.
"Please," Ahsoka said, and found there were no other words.
The woman watched her for a moment, invisible eyes clearly directed at Ahsoka's face, and then she took a ragged breath and set her gloved hand atop Ahsoka's.
