Summary
There was something in this particular silence that made Qifrey a little wistful. Something related to the dying flames of the fire that kept the atelier nice and warm for most of the day, the gentle cracking of it. Its warmth, maybe, so sharply contrasted with the chill of the night slowly seeping through the walls and the spaces between them and the window frames, catching at his back, bereft of his heavy outside cloak.
The comforts of the warm fire and a friend long cherished. The sorrow of it, as well.
(the author is caught up to chapter 96 of the manga, beware of spoilers, vague as they may be).

Summary
When Kaveh was still a student, there was barely any time to think about romance, though. He noticed it alright, but always in relation to others, always too busy himself to even spare it any thought. "I’m dedicating myself to my studies", he would say to the nice aunties at the food stalls whenever they decided that he was a good enough candidate for their daughters and started to coax him into agreeing to a date. Then, "there is no time for looking for a partner when I have to make a name for myself", he would find himself answering whoever brought up the topic after his successful graduation.

Or: Kaveh has always been too busy to spare romance much thought. After some time living with Alhaitham, though, he finds himself just free enough to finally consider the matter, and what he finds is that he might not really want it as much as the whole world seems to want it. The thing is, though, he is also not necessarily against it, and when he and his roommate start to get closer, he finds that some aspects of it are... nice. And that with the right person, there really may be some appeal to the whole ordeal. -

Summary
Sighing, he lets go of his envy, welcoming the exhaustion. It would be so easy to just not care, to not think more of their arrangement than what it was, like Alhaitham clearly did. He wasn't losing sleep over it, and Kaveh definitely did not feel disappointed by the fact (the telltale itch of his eyes, the hollow at his chest, betrayed him just like his heart did).

Or: Kaveh cries in Alhaitham's bed in the middle of the night, wishing and yearning for something that might be right at his fingertips. Alhaitham does not stay asleep. -

Summary
For as long as Qifrey could remember, he’d never properly understood the ferocity with which others felt this sort of thing. He’d reasoned that it was simply that he could not entertain it; true pleasure, and the kind of comfort that he imagined should come with it, had always been far from his reach.
Except, Qifrey could have it now, if he wanted. Qifrey felt quite certain that Olruggio would entertain it, if asked in earnest; his evidence lay in a decade’s worth of stolen glances.

There it was, that thing Qifrey did, where he offered a piece of himself wrapped in observation about someone else, like a gift hidden inside a gift, and you had to decide whether to unwrap the second layer or pretend you had only received the first. Olruggio had spent half his life learning to read these offerings and in doing so he had become the foremost scholar of a language spoken by exactly one person in all the world.
"I'm stubborn because someone has to be," he said. "You'd float away on your own mysteries if no one kept you tethered."
"Perhaps." The maddingly sad smile again. "Perhaps that's so."
In which Olruggio brings tea to Qifrey's study on a damp evening and finds him working in the dark again, the staff out and the fire dying.

Wriothesley blinks, “I’m sorry?”Wriothesley is picky with his guiding due to his history, infamous for having gained his esper abilities from killing his parents, ordinary guides are hesitant to get near him, but a dungeon breaks in the center of the Court of Fontaine and no one but Wriothesley has the skill level to enter it and survive.
