“Oh, that’s easy.” His hand twisted a knob, and the notes came out sharper. “It is infected—Petrova Line and everything.”
In Grace's opinion, dreaming about time traveling is no excuse for getting out of practice with his Eridian. To the rest of the Petrova Taskforce, it seems a bit odd that their resident Astrophage expert has suddenly taken to carrying a keyboard around and playing it whenever he speaks. “Shut it, Abby, you’re gonna wake him up!”
Grace buries his head deeper into the crook of his elbow, desperate to get a few more minutes of sleep, the movement eliciting the noise of giggling from the room around him. His brain doesn’t register anything strange about the sound, until he remembers that he’s supposed to be in the middle of space. Space, where Grace should be completely alone, and Rocky should be well on his way back to Erid.
He jolts upright, suddenly far more awake. The quiet giggling erupts into full blown laughter, and Grace suddenly realises that he’s in his classroom, and the students laughing at him are the same ones he last taught fifteen years ago.
Son of a biscuit.
He’s on Earth again.
Or
Ryland Grace gets sent back in time and finds that getting launched into space is a lot harder when you aren’t being dragged there against your will.
