Tall and blond. Richard noticed that first. Probably natural, the hair that is, since the curls poking out underneath his western hat weren’t bleached-colored. His height, too, jesus. It wasn’t hard to be taller than Richard, most people were, but he easily towered well over a foot over him, and Richard was the one on the porch. Built like Adonis, hard chest and rippling, swollen arms underneath a flannel, thighs thick with muscles covered by clad jeans, and a strong, square jaw. He had a frustrated hand on his hip, one knee bent that rose the hem of his pant leg, exposing a well-loved pair of boots.
Turn around, Richard silently pleaded, I don’t even know you, but turn around—

“Finish your essay?” McVries asked Stebbins as soon as he walked through the door. He was lying on his stomach with a movie playing on his laptop, a reading light illuminating his section of the room.
“I’m going to sleep with him,” Stebbins announced.
McVries paused the movie.
“Pardon?”
“Harkness,” he explained, like it was obvious “I’m going to sleep with him.”
“Okay,” McVries said slowly, “Do you need me to add that to the calendar, or…”
Or, for a man who spent so much of his life waiting, Stebbins is not very patient. especially when an irritably cute boy is involved. Starkness mandatory romcom!

It takes Ray Garraty five days to fall in love.
Which is, objectively, absolutely fucking absurd. He started dating Jan when he was sixteen years old and never fell in love with her. That sounds terrible, but it’s true. Three and a half years together, and he never even considered the possibility of falling in love with her. What a great boyfriend he turned out to be.
But he meets Pete McVries and falls in love in less than a week.
