Summary
There’s a reason Jack Abbot is Michael Robinavitch’s emergency contact.
Yes, they’re best friends. Yes, they became family somewhere in the wreckage of grief and long hospital nights.
But there’s another reason too. A quieter one. Because sometimes, when the stress becomes too much and the weight of the world finally crushes him flat, Robby’s mind steps sideways entirely.
And when that happens, there is exactly one person on earth trusted to find him gently.
OR
Little Robby, Caregiver Jack. That's it, that's the fic.

Summary
Robby is sick but he's sure this time is different. Last time was a big deal but he's just under the weather. There's no need for everyone to get so worked up and there's certainly no reason that he should have to do a pregnancy test "just to be sure."

Summary
Robby hasn’t felt so obvious and awkward since he sprang up five inches freshman year of high school. Here he stands in the middle of the doorway, bearing several tell-tales of a life upside down. He’s wide awake at 2 AM. He’s scruffy headed, and stuck wearing sweat pants a size too big for the weight he’s lost in recovery. Just the weight of his phone in his pocket would be enough to drag them down over his bruised and battered hip bones if he didn’t knot them up mercilessly. Robby stinks of Wet Ones and rinse-free shampoo. And to top it all off, he’s become completely, heart wringingly, affectionately incontinent.

“Ok, let’s intubate,” Jack nodded at Robby. “I could use your hands now, babe.”
Jack blinked, his own hands still moving without needing to be told while his brain registered what he’d just said.
Oh.
“Uh, I mean I could use an extra set of hands, Dr. Robby."
All of Trauma One went quiet.

Summary
"Nothing happened, drop it." Robby uttered, wrapping his arms around his body.
Jack slowly moved closer, gradually pulling Robby into his embrace to avoid spooking him. Robby fell forward and let himself be held, his hands clutching at Jack.
"My love,—"
A soft sob tore out of Robby.
"—I'm so worried right now." Jack admitted, caressing Robby's back softly. "What happened, baby? Please."
Jack gets a call that Robby's in the hospital, no one is telling him anything including Robby.

Summary
It isn't the storm of a lifetime. It isn't even a hurricane. Robby wouldn't have thought twice of it, if the power hadn't gone out. While Robby wouldn't necessarily classify himself as being afraid of the dark, a combination storm-blackout... well, it reminds him of a very different time. He did his residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans in 2009, after all, and the memories that come back to him are dark indeed.
Thankfully, he has a partner that will drive through floodwaters unasked to find him.Bookmarked by TheOneWithWhoLockHallows

Summary
He knew about that, from medical textbooks and from those TikTok reels that without shame discuss the most curious kinks, that it could happen – It usually shouldn't be a problem when the kink is discussed, chosen and enjoyed together with your partner, not suddenly, because of an overwhelming orgasm that has caught him off guard to the point of pissing himself.
In Jack's bed.
While Jack was fucking him ...

Summary
"I'm going to miss you, when you leave for your sabbatical."
That's what almost makes Robby break. He laughs softly, awkwardly. His face probably looks flushed. "Brother, I—"
Jack pulls him into a hug, without asking for permission. His face is flushed against Robby's shoulder, probably smushed uncomfortably against the strap of his bag. It takes Robby a moment to realize what is happening, but he hugs back, one hand on Jack's back. His black shirt is sweaty, his back wet and warm, but it only makes him feel more real, human, underneath Robby's hand.
It takes a lot of strength to actually pull back.
or a take on season 2 featuring: robby's real plans for his sabbatical, the donorcycle, an accident, and reaching out for help.

Summary
He mutters, "I'm not letting go until you tell me what you're going to do when you've crossed state lines."
"I told you," Robby huffs, "Beer. Hot apple cider. Maybe a chicken pot pie on the porch of some good Samaritan who takes pity on me."
"Yeah? Chicken pot pie?" Jack hums, raising his eyebrows, receiving an affirming nod from the other. "Gonna go on a stereotypical-ass spirit journey? That's what you're going to do, Michael? That's the reason you hugged me like that? Like you were savoring it?"

And Michael Robinavitch would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for Jack Abbot.

“Can I help? Please, I want— Let me help.”
It’s all too much, but his last three words prove to be Robby’s tipping point, pushing him finally and fully over the edge.
Desperate, jerky, he nods against Jack’s shoulder. He just barely manages to choke out, “Please,” and, “I’m so sorry,” before Jack shushes him.
“Don’t be sorry,” Jack says on repeat. “Don’t you be sorry, it’s okay. It’s all going to be okay, I got you, brother, alright? Neither of us is going anywhere without each other, I can promise you that.”

Summary
“I know it’s hard. It’s so hard, I know, I’m sorry,” Jack tells him, soaping the inside bend of his knee, making sure not to miss a single bit of him. “I’m so sorry. But I’ve got you.”
Robby’s eyes flutter back open, tears clumping his lashes together. Jack sets the sponge aside for a moment, rinsing his hands so he can take Robby’s face between his palms, sweeping his thumbs beneath his eyes. He clears away his tears, leans in, presses a kiss so softly to his downturned mouth, his wet-sparkling beard.
“I love you,” Jack promises him, their lips brushing as he speaks. “I love you, I love you. You’re going to be okay.”
or: robby has a bad day and reaches his breaking point. jack steps in and takes care of him when he gets home.
