Era doesn't have high hopes for her future. Truthfully, up until a few months ago there hasn't been a future; just the blurry promise of suffering to come. The journey from villain to ex-villain to vigilante has been... rough, to put it mildly. But Era can handle it. The journey from vigilante to hero-in-training? That, she has less of a grasp on. Era doesn't consider herself to be optimistic, but she is confident in her skills and her quirk, sure that her training will carry her through anything UA has to throw at her, and that in turn UA will keep her protected from the shadowy figures of her past, the threat that lurks in the corner of her eye.
If only heroes weren't so god damned nosy, stubborn, persistent. If only she could remember to keep her useless emotions in check, avoid any unnecessary attachment, save herself and others from future pain. If only her quirk would just let her die. Funny, how that would make things so much simpler.

An inhuman sound tore itself from Tomura’s throat. His nails dug ever deeper into his skin, sure to leave crimson furrows.
Kuroichi blinked, long and slow. “You can, if you want. If that would make you feel better—”
That, at least, dragged a comprehensible snarl out of him. “What the fuck is wrong with you?”
“Many things.” The Doctor had called her flawed. “Nothing of consequence, now.”
“Nothing of- Kuroichi. Kuroichi.” When Tomura peeled his face from his knees, his eyes were glassy and red-rimmed. He breathed, long and slow, fingers twitching in time with his fluttering pulse. “Tell me what you did.”
“I think you know.”
“Tell me anyway.”
She blinked, leaning back on her heels. “I killed him.”
What capacity remained in her of satisfaction could take numb solace in the flicker of surprise that had crossed his face. What remained of malice wished it had been fear.

Best Jeanist, fourth best hero in the country Best Jeanist, who she had just run into in a fucking grocery store because of fucking course—that Best Jeanist was facing her with his hand outstretched, a thoroughly unamused expression peeking out from beneath his scarf.
It really was a testament to her distraction that she hadn’t noticed sooner, even if he was in civilian clothes. The man’s face was plastered over enough billboards and magazines that it wasn’t exactly subtle. The quirk that now rippled through the threads of her clothes was just a confirmation.
“This, uh. This looks pretty bad, huh.”
Jeanist twisted his hand with a sigh, and Era’s feet skidded against the tile as he tried to drag her closer. “That is correct.”
