Fez’s expression shutters, and he studies her with a carefully blank gaze. “A client,” he repeats, like he’s making sure, surveying her from head to toe. It should make her uncomfortable, shifty on her feet; it just makes her kind of singe and burn with desire, as always. “This ain’t the fuckin’ stationery store.”
“I’ve been here before, Fezco,” she says, rolling her eyes. “But this time it’s different. I’m here to get something and leave, like everyone else does.”
“Somethin’ like what?”
“Adderall.”
He mouths the word to himself, his lips moving silently (and Lexi wants to kiss him. Wants to know what his mouth feels like against her skin, what words he would whisper into her neck—). Then, “Fuck.”
“I have the money,” says Lexi, even though she knows that’s not the issue at all. It’s more how Fez is looking at her like she’s something he’s already mourning.

[Sokka is five when the first mark appears.
It writes itself in a deep red like a wound, as if someone had carved the word “nonbender” in a messy font across the knuckles of his left hand, as if it was handwritten with a knife.
When he asks his mother, as she applies salve on Sokka’s knuckles, she sighs deeply and says nothing for a few moments.
“Sometimes, spirits don’t make much sense.”
Sokka has yet to turn thirteen when he wakes up screaming in pain, about ten soulmarks all over each other between his left shoulder and his ear, red and vivid like burning flesh. Among the few words that are somehow possible to read out of the disastrous scribbling, “disrespectful” and “coward” and “burned” and “sorry sorry sorry” are the ones that stand out the most to Sokka. He thinks, at the tender age of twelve, whoever did this to his soulmate will be sorry too, one day.
A month after Hakoda leaves him with the job of the protector at the age of thirteen, Sokka realizes, with a bitter taste in his mouth, that he’s got more soulmarks than his entire village combined.]

Mel’s third-favorite scene in Dirty Dancing is only a second long. It’s when Johnny jumps off the stage during the final dance and flips his head up right on cue with the singer crooning “Hey, baby!”
So it was very distracting that, for the rest of the day after her karaoke session with Myrna, Frank had been quietly singing those two words to her every time they ran into each other. A “Hey baby!” when he slid into the chair next to her in the breakroom. Another when they met in the middle both jogging to an ambulance.
She couldn’t help but laugh every time he did it which, knowing Frank, meant he’d probably do it tomorrow, and the next day, and the next.

Scott finds that, at times, it’s hard for him to walk.
His legs are reduced to spaghetti noodles, and it’s a well-known fact that you can’t walk on spaghetti.
But he tries anyway.
The floor creaks awkwardly under his weight. All he wants is a glass of water, but the mansion punishes him for it. It would’ve punished him no matter what.
He feels like a ghost. The children, the young mutants who—once upon a time—looked up to him, retreat when they see him coming. Like his misery is contagious. He tries to smile at them but it’s impossible, and they can tell. They know.
Jean Grey may be nothing more than a spirit, but it’s Scott Summers who’s dead.

Following the events of Alkali Lake, Scott isn’t feeling like himself. Unfortunately, when you’re blinded by grief, it’s everyone else who seems off.
