Summary
“Hey Buck?”
“Mm?” He turns to Chris, drinking in the sight of him. It feels unreal, that despite everything they’re both still here.
Alive.
“You’re bleeding.” Chris’s fingers brush Buck’s face and the salt that’s crusted around the long scrape. It’s sluggishly bleeding thanks to the blood thinners Buck’s taking.
“So are you.” Buck smooths a thumb over the shallow scrape on Chris’ temple above his eye. “We match.”

Summary
This is a date, Marisol realises with sudden, dawning clarity.
Does Eddie know this is a date?
“Well, it’s about time,” Eddie tells Buck and Tommy. “Working out how to hang out with you both was getting exhausting. Hey, why don’t we pull another table over?”
Oh god, Eddie doesn’t know this is a date.

AKA, the one where Eddie (unknowingly) wants Buck so bad that it makes him act stupid in a restaurant. -

Summary
His parents leave.
There’s disappointment, sure. Buck had really thought that things were changing. He’d really thought that maybe, finally, his parents wanted to be around.
There’s also relief, because he finally has his apartment to himself again.
Finally it’s quiet.
Finally he can sleep.

Summary
It’s a truly unremarkable Friday when Eddie realises, with sudden shocking clarity, that he wants— no, that he’s going— to marry Buck.
Buck is asleep when Eddie comes to this realisation, bathed in the soft flickering light of the television. He’s got his feet kicked up on the coffee table, head thrown back, with a kid tucked in on either side of him.
Watching this quiet moment, it’s like something suddenly clicks inside of Eddie, a final piece falls into place as he realises that this— this is what he wants for the rest of his life.

Summary
“Ugh, it’s freezing,” Buck complains, padding back into the room. He climbs into bed, tucking into Eddie’s side.
“It really isn’t,” Eddie tells him. “You might have a fever.” He skates his hands over Buck’s skin, up and along his jaw to cup his face. “Mm, you definitely have a fever.”
“It’s just a cold,” Buck grumbles, throwing an arm over Eddie’s waist. “It’ll be over in a day, tops.”

“I missed you so much,” Chris sobs, his words muffled against Buck’s shoulder. “They wouldn’t let me see you. They just said you were sleeping.”
“I’m sorry.” Buck whispers the words into Chris’ hair, his arms tightening around the boy. “I’m so sorry.”

He looks like he’s sleeping.
That’s the worst part— that it looks like he could open his eyes at any moment.

Summary
It’s been a difficult five months.
Buck had spent the first eight weeks in the bulky cast, confined to the couch or his bed after coming home from Eddie’s. Zac had spent the first month of his summer break bouncing between sleepovers with Maddie, Hen and Eddie.
That’s all behind them now.
He's passed his physical, and been cleared by his doctor. All that’s left is his recertification test, and Buck is feeling better than ever.

Oh.
That– that explains a lot.

Summary
“Fathers Day?”
“Yeah! It’s like a birthday,” Chris tells him excitedly. “But for all the dads, all over the world. You give them presents and everything. Abuela is going to help me make a cake. Oh! You should make a card too!”
Zac frowns. He doesn't really want to make a card for his dad. He hasn’t seen him in forever, not since Buck came and said they could live with each other. He’d rather make a card for Buck.

Summary
It's unsurprising when Buck is finally taken down.
And he goes down hard.
The flu had spread through the house, starting with Chris who'd brought it home from school and followed shortly by Eddie.
When it finally reaches Buck, it doesn't ease him into it. There are no warning signs, no tickle in the back of his throat. On Thursday he's fine; walking into burning buildings, and happy to have his partner back at his side.
On Friday morning he wakes feeling like he's been hit by a truck.

Summary
Fuck.
Buck scrubs a hand down his face. He’s got no idea what he’s supposed to do here.
He knows what his parents are like. He has his own childhood to draw from, and Isaac doesn't deserve that. He deserves to grow up surrounded by love, and if nothing else, Buck can give him that.
But Buck is also a twenty-six year old probationary firefighter, living in his girlfriend’s apartment while she travels the world. He’s not exactly in a position to look after a kid.
“Okay.” It comes out in a rush of air. “I’m gonna come get you."

Summary
“I’m coming,” Derek calls, shrugging on a sweater. The first few days of March had been warm, but the weather has turned in the last week - winter's last ‘fuck you’ - and Derek is expecting the icy blast as the warm air rushes out the front door. “What—” His breath freezes in his throat.
“Hey there, Sourwolf.”
Stiles is standing on the front porch— Derek’s front porch— his right hand waved in a half wave.
“Stiles?” Derek almost takes a step back. “What are you— how?”
~
Two years after Derek runs from Beacon Hills, Stiles turns up at his front door looking for his own escape. What follows is a story of adventure, healing and finding a place to call home.

“Wait,” Chimney wanders over, expression set in disbelief. “You’re watching Chris while Eddie’s away?”
“Uh, yeah?” Buck’s brow furrows in confusion.
Face breaking into a grin, Chim shakes his head. “But then who’s watching you?” he teases ducking Buck’s friendly swat.
A collection of ficlets, mostly Buddie, that I have posted over on Tumblr.

"This— firefighting— it's just something that I'm meant to do, same as you," Eddie says, without any hesitation. "Plus, Hen and Chimney are pretty damn good at their jobs. They've patched you up enough times."
"Too many times," Buck groans. "They're never going to let me live this down."

Summary
There's another message from the school confirming that Chris' been picked up and one more from Buck telling Eddie that they're home.
Home. The word echoes in Eddie's ears as the message ends.
"Eddie?" Bobby is twisted around the front seat, watching him closely. They're all still waiting for his answer.
"Everything's fine." He ignores the looks the three of them are giving him. "Buck's got everything under control."

“Hey.” Eddie steps into the kitchen, and Buck jerks in surprise. He fumbles the glass salad bowl. He almost catches it, but it hits the edge of the counter and just shatters.
“Buck!”
Eddie and Chris both lunge towards him, but Buck throws out his hand.
“Chris, stop! Don’t move!” He looks over at Eddie, eyes wide. “He’s not wearing shoes.”
