A dreadful realisation grips Newt’s heart. “But the Flare grows in the brain.”
Teresa meets his gaze, her voice steady. “It does.”
“Find someone else,” Newt says, the raw edge in his voice betraying his desperation.

The truth is simple, Teresa never wanted to hurt anybody. Although maybe that isn’t quite true, she had wanted to save the world. Sometimes you have to shed a little blood to get things done. That’s what WCKD had taught her.
It’s only now that she’s realizing the ends don’t justify the means or maybe she isn’t the cold-hearted monster they tried to make her. It’s only now when it’s too late to go back she's realizing that she slipped, that she made a mistake.
The truth is simple, Teresa wanted to save the world, but not at this, children tied up and bloody, Minho screaming and thrashing in his restraints, hollow, dead eyes, not at this cost.

Summary
Thomas wakes up in the medical hut. It has been three weeks since the events in the Last City, where Thomas and his friends rescued Minho, battled with an infected Newt, and witnessed Newt sacrificing himself to save Thomas. He finds it difficult to live in a world without Newt, as if Newt took his heart with him, a more painful wound then his healing bullet wound. Gally, Brenda, Minho, Harriet and Frypan have all found happiness and Thomas wishes to join them but without Newt, he can't bring himself to be happy. That is until Minho shockingly reveals that Newt is alive. After along wait, Thomas is once again reunited with Newt. Thomas and Newt both want to make up for lost time together, and join their friends in happiness.

Thomas's heart skipped a beat.
“The name's Newt, by the way.” the blond introduced himself, offering a handshake.
Thomas grabbed Newt's hand, gave it a little squeeze, and said automatically.
“My name's Thomas.”
Newt raised an eyebrow at that, an amused grin on his lips as he said,
“I know. You told us during the phone call, remember?”
or Thomas slowly realizing he's crushing on Newt and falling head over heels for the blond. Fast.
