Summary
Baelor’s eyes were gazing at him, dark with a simmering heat. Maekar did not shy under the weight of it. Instead, he leaned closer, a challenging edge sharpening his voice.
“You would have me tend to you in other ways, then.”
“I would have you serve me in every way, Maekar,” Baelor said, the words spoken boldly, devoid of shame or hesitation.
Or, Baelor has always looked after Maekar. Now, with the weight of the realm crushing his alpha, it’s finally Maekar's turn to take care of him.

Summary
“Do you know what happens now?” Baelor asked in a low voice.
Maekar’s eyes locked onto his, instantly sharp. “What? Do you take me for an ignorant babe?”
“Tell me,” Baelor said, more firmly this time. “What do you think happens?”
Maekar frowned. “You rut in me and spill your seed,” he answered plainly. “And we couple thereafter until I quicken with child.”
Baelor was silent for a moment.
“That is all you know of a bedding?” he asked at last. “Ruttings?”
Maekar’s brow furrowed deeper. “What else is there?”
Or, Maekar thinks little of mating. Baelor shows him otherwise.

Summary
Maekar’s gaze flicked down to him, his eyes unreadable. “You are an omega,” he said quietly, “same as I am. All omegas must bear the heats the gods give them.”
Aerion’s face fell into a scowl. “I do not want to,” he said, the words sharp with childish certainty. “I do not want to be like you.”
Or, Aerion Targaryen spent nineteen years believing himself spared the fate all omegas were born to endure.
He was wrong.

Summary
Baelor reached for him again, and this time, he did not let Maekar pull away. He gripped the nape of Maekar’s neck, forcing him to meet his gaze. “Men can be foolish. If you give them time, they will realize they were wrong to doubt you.”
“For a short while,” Maekar said, his eyes flickering over Baelor’s face, his tone going flat. “Until you put another babe in me.”
Or, after having his first child, Maekar is struggling with a body that feels like a betrayal.

Summary
“How enlightening,” Aerion drawled. “Three years wed, and we are advised that my mate should rut in me more often. Your chains are well-earned, maester. Such wisdom is surely rare.”
The old man ignored the barb with the practiced ease of a man who had served many difficult princes. “I am merely advising patience, Your Grace.”
Patience. The word seemed to mock Valarr. He had practiced patience until it felt like a slow-acting poison.
Valarr cannot quicken an omega.
Prince Aerion is barren.
Their bonding must have displeased the gods.
At first, the whispers had been little more than a dull irritation, easy enough to dismiss as courtly malice. Now they had sharpened into something uglier, emboldened by time and repeated failure.

Summary
“Fuck waiting,” Aerion snarled, the sweetness vanishing as a desperate edge returned to his voice. He reached up, his slender fingers wrapping around Dunk’s massive forearms, trying—and utterly failing—to pull the giant beta down on top of him. “I am dripping, you thick-skulled beast. Look at me. Touch me. If you won’t give me your manhood, use your fingers. Please.”
That last word was practically choked out, a rare, bruised admission of need that Aerion would undoubtedly make him pay for once the heat was over.
Or, Dunk is no alpha, but he's the only man in the Seven Kingdoms that Aerion will ever beg for.

Summary
"Sixty-forty," Aerion gasped, his hands braced on Dunk's shoulders for leverage. "You get the bigger cut because you're mine. In the ring, in here, mine." He ground down hard, chasing his own pleasure.
Dunk's head fell back against the chair, the whiskey nearly empty now, its haze blurring the edges of his restraint. "Yes—fuck, yes, Aerion," he rasped, hips jerking up to meet each descent. “Anything… anything you want.”

Summary
“The last few days have been…trying.”
“I can imagine.”
“You cannot.” Valarr surprises himself. He has always been good; he has never spoken out of turn to Father or Grandfather, has always been courteous and polite no matter what. He has never snapped at his father, or behaved impudently.
But he has been scraped raw since the horns sounded that misty morning.
“You cannot imagine it,” he continues.

Summary
"You're mad," he concluded, "you cannot tell dream from day any longer."
"We all are mad, Aerion."
"I am not like you," he hissed. He grasped his brother's face with his free hand, got his own fingers stained crimson. "I am nothing like you."
"I wish that were so, my sweet brother."—

Summary
Duncan “Dunk” is six-foot-something of bad decisions and body checks, currently one penalty away from getting benched for life and one concussion away from early retirement. He plays ice hockey like the rink personally insulted his mother and her emotionally complicated poodle.
Aerion Brightflame does not play anything. He performs.
National-level figure skater. Gold medal favorite. Known for routines so sharp they’ve been described as “surgical” and “mildly concerning.” Has been fined twice for “unsportsmanlike eye contact,” once for refusing to break character during a program (he maintained direct eye contact with a judge for twelve full seconds), and once for calling a scoring panel “artistically illiterate.”
There is an ongoing investigation into whether he did, in fact, mutter “little bitch-ass scoring” under his breath at a Grand Prix event. The footage is inconclusive. The lip-reading community says otherwise.
Anyway-they share a rink.
That’s it. That’s the problem. THE problem...
