“Yeah, he does!” Rantaro meets up with Kirumi. Yukari and Mitsuru are right at their hip. “I don’t think he is in today, sorry about that.”
“Sorry?” Kirumi looks over at them and tilts her head. “What for?”
“Well…” Good question, why did they apologise? “Wally’s a nice guy. Kari-chan and I talk to him and we mention you guys. He wants to meet you.”

She coos and swoons about the lovely morning that she will have with her dearest. One that is filled with chocolate Taiyaki, a delicacy, and peaceful birdwatching. The cardinals are rather active this time of year. Rumor has it if two people were to hear the mating call of a red cardinal together, it’s a sign that they are destined for one another. A symbol of true love. An everlasting relationship filled with compassion. Rae cups her cheeks, presses her knees together, and lets out a delighted squeal. Thank the heavens above it is the middle of the night, students and facilities are nowhere near the kitchen.
But one of the maids may be here doing some late-night cleaning. She gulps and wipes her dirty hands on her uniform. “Alrighty, Rae Taylor.” She rises on her toes, gives herself a nice stretch and yawn, then rolls her shoulders back. “Just do this very carefully this time. Remember, you have such a limited supply of chocolate, and you must make this perfect for Miss Claire.”

Summary
Is it better not to love and die numb with loneliness, or better to cherish the experiences you have, even if they’re limited?
Thinking it, Hamuko is pretty sure she could guess Ryoji’s answer. She carried him inside of her for years, after all… He was practically a part of her. Like with her teammates, though, knowing the factual reality of what a friend would tell her doesn’t sway her convictions. Hamuko, as always, remains steadfast and ugly to her core, unable to look from anyone else’s perspective but her own. It’s truly sickening. She should have done something productive today, if she couldn’t have managed a celebration with the boys… Perhaps a nap alone would have sufficed and dragged her out of her rumination. At the very least, it would have made the time fly.
So caught up is Hamuko in her laments, she almost thinks she’s hallucinating Ryoji’s visage in the seat across from her. It takes her a full minute to realise that that is not in fact a hallucination but the real Mochizuki Ryoji, leaned on the table with his hands laced and cradling his chin.

Hamuko plans to spend Christmas alone.

Summary
The group makes their way out onto the sidewalk, the sun spilling down on them from overhead. It’s pleasantly warm against the looseness of Mitsuru’s swimwear. She takes things slow, hanging at the back of the group, in part to continue enjoying the sun without much interruption, and in part because Yukari is walking at the back too, fiddling with her sunscreen bottle with a little wrinkle in her nose.
“Do you need some help with that?” Mitsuru asks, and nudges Yukari’s arm with her elbow.
“Huh? Oh, Mitsuru,” Yukari smiles, “no, I’ve got it. I think, anyway. The seals on these things are so annoying when they’re new…”
It doesn’t help that Yukari is sporting a new manicure—temporary, mind. She’d called her new nail set press-ons, so Mitsuru assumes she can take them off. Yukari doesn’t typically spring for fancier nail styles like that to accommodate her archery hobby. It also makes it hard for her to peel off the tinfoil top of the sunscreen bottle, and after struggling silently for a few more moments, she lets out a resigned sigh and passes the bottle to Mitsuru.

Summary
Sighing, Chidori drops her gaze and flips to a blank page in her sketchbook. She scoots towards the edge of her hospital bed, hooking socked feet over the side and gesturing for Junpei to come closer. When he does as instructed, Chidori presses her pencil into his hand and folds his fingers over it. Her fingertips are slightly chilly, and smaller than Junpei’s—not that he’s focusing on them for long, what with the pencil and all.
“Whuh,” Junpei says, articulate. He blinks, then looks up at Chidori. “Aww, c’mon, Chidori, you don’t have to teach me.”
“I don’t have to do anything,” Chidori responds, bluntly. “You’re wrong. I’m not a professional. And even if I was, it still wouldn’t be a problem if you wanted to learn how to draw. Everybody starts somewhere.”
It’s the sort of advice a teacher would probably give him, except it does sort of mean more coming from Chidori. Still, Junpei is apprehensive, and some—or all—of this must show on his face, because Chidori’s cheeks puff out slightly and she looks away.
“...You don’t have to colour inside the lines,” Chidori says.
