"Is that your boyfriend?" Evan asks and Regulus freezes and panics, his lips parted. before he knows what he's doing, he turns around and he's nodding frantically.
"Yes, this is James, my boyfriend," Regulus blurts out and he glances at James, who quickly masks his bewilderment and nods his head in agreement. Regulus is still clinging on James arm, better yet, he has tightened his grip.

Even though the epiphany was sudden, unexpected, it wasn’t exactly surprising. After all, who else would Regulus ever fall in love with if not Barty? Who would Regulus ever love as much as he has loved Barty his entire life?
It’s just him and Barty, always have been, just the two of them until the end.

Summary
After a series of traumatic events, Regulus is left mute as a young child. He expresses himself through art, finding that the canvas listens to him a lot better than people do. When his parents are killed in a car accident, he takes the chance to move in with Sirius and the Potters to start over.
James is a soccer player forced to take an art class his senior year to meet all his credit requirements for a scholarship and to graduate. It's there that he learns Regulus has a voice, it just takes someone willing to listen to hear it.
