    Right in her ear, her voice was a growl soaked in madness. “You made me bleed.” Her hand fisted Katniss’ braid and yanked her head back. “And what? Thought I would just let you escape?"

    Katniss bucked her hips, trying to throw her off, but the Career stayed rooted, balanced like a coiled snake. Katniss kept her breathing steady, refusing to give her the satisfaction of a flinch. Her gaze flicked past her, marking the distance to the bow lying in the leaves—three paces, maybe four if she had to roll.

    "I thought you might want this back." The girl twirled the arrow slick with her blood in her hand, while Katniss squirmed beneath her, she could even see the dark spot on the Career’s jacket where Katniss had shot her. "Maybe here." She poised the arrow like a mirror at the same spot Katniss had shot her, digging it into her flesh, their blood mingling.

    She panted, heart hammering, as the Career loomed over her. "That's how you got your eleven? Prided yourself to be some big bad hunter?"

    or,

    Katniss' decision to go against Haymitch's advice at the bloodbath could prove fatal then it draws the feverent attention of a certain Career.

    Clove let her head fall back against the stone. For an instant, she squeezed her eyes shut, as though steeling herself. Then she lifted trembling fingers to her jacket sleeve. Slowly, she peeled it up past her elbow, baring pale skin barely marred with dried blood and grime. There it was.
    Katniss Everdeen.
    As if she had written it on her in stark black letters along Clove’s inner forearm.
    The Capitol announcer spoke over hushed static.
    “—you can clearly make out the name. Who could have expected this? A promising tribute from District 2, injured and not looking good only for her to reveal her soulmark! Something so rare nowadays, and it’s the name of our beloved Girl on Fire! Has there been a comment from her yet? This might be the love story for the ages, star-crossed, a mentor and a tribute not even from the same District—”
    Katniss barely heard them. Her own mark smarted on her chest, pulsed in her skull like a wound.
    On-screen, Clove licked her cracked lips. And then, raggedly, she whispered.
    “Katniss… please.”

    Or,

    A Victor and a Career. Bound by a soulmark, scarred by the Capitol’s Games. Love was meant to be a strategy to survive—until it became the greatest risk of all.

    She knew. Found out. Katniss cleared her throat.

    "Enough dallying." Clove was in front of her and in a movement Katniss could barely follow, grasped the collar of her jacket, yanked her down.

    She was going to kill her.

    With her lips on hers.

    Kissed her.

    Their teeth clashed; Clove took Katniss’ startled gasp as invitation, tongue pushing in, fierce and hungry. Groaning, arching up against Katniss' body.

    Clove’s nails dug lightly into her jaw. Katniss’ hands hovered uselessly before landing, hesitant, on Clove’s hips, unsure, transferring the blood on her hands, not that Clove seemed to care, biting down on her lower lip-

    Katniss should start at the beginning. Somewhere, in all that mess, was the reason she now had a Career’s lips on hers.

    Or,

    as Peeta put it eloquently "She has no idea. The effect she can have." (Hunger Games p. 90).

    Or,

    The accidental seductress AU — Katniss joins the Career pack to raise her odds of getting home to Prim, but instead of securing her survival, she may just court both her early demise… and a certain tiny Career.
