    Summary

Jon wasn't sure the man sitting across from him wasn't trying to pull a weird prank. He was pretty sure Americans didn't wear cowboy hats all the time, and his southern twang made him hard to understand. Surely it must be overstated. Surely, the Vast must have cobbled together an image of what it imagined an American was like and sent it here for... some reason.

But it was against company policy to deny anyone the ability to make a statement, so he placed the tape recorder on the desk and turned it on.

(thought too long about the relationship between the vast and the buried)(this story doubles as a tribute to my home)

    Summary

Gabriel O’Hara showed up at his brother’s apartment at eleven-oh-seven PM, sharp—on a work night, because of course his older brother couldn’t just be convenient for once in his life—in response to a distressing holo-message from Miguel that began with him falling over from a seated position and ended with a teary, slurred rant in such white-man Spanish that their mother would’ve hit him upside the head with an ¡Hablemos!: Gramática para Niños book if she’d heard it.

Although Gabriel would’ve much preferred to just let someone like Lyla or Dana (or, like, Xina, he supposed, if she and Miggy were still on speaking terms?) take the lead and comfort his wreck of a brother, Miguel had called him, and by decree of familial obligation Gabriel had no choice but to deal with his idiot supergenius older brother who was an asshole most of the time and also a stupidly emotional drunk.

    OR,

Over time, and against his will, Miguel finds out how to love himself.

    Summary

    Thalia was told this story.

Making up the border of Camp Half-Blood was a moat- though it isn’t one in the traditional sense. It wasn’t dug out by hand, filled with water and left as a deterrent. It was rather shallow, actually. It’s actually more of a stream, feeding into the Long Island sound. It surrounded the camp, and has for five years now.

Thalia hadn’t known the details till now, but she knew the broad details.

Or, I swap some things around.
