“How do I know?” The kid spits, knife raised again, trembling violently. His eyes are wet, angry and pleading and piercing right down into Grian’s soul.
“...If I can fly?” Grian asks, confused. His heart is beating fast.
The boy shakes his head violently, taking a lurching step forward, now only a few feet away. Something about his eyes almost seems familiar, but the thought is fleeting. The knife looks sharp. The child is crying, slow tears that barely have an effect on his voice.
“No,” the kid says forcefully. “How do I know you’re not a zombie?”
OR,
A young Scar fresh from a world overtaken by zombies stumbles through The Rift onto Hermitcraft, and is quickly adopted by the rest of the Hermits, who have no idea who he actually is.

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

[Mind Games AU]
A retelling of Secret Life but Hermitcraft Gem world jumps and ends up in the game instead. After finding out the dark truth about these death loop matches and how dire this situation is for these alternate versions of her friends, she gains the help of the champions from previous seasons as they try to find a way out of these games.
At the same time, the Watchers' influence over both the players and the game has been restrained this season due to an unknown source fighting against them. Grian uses this opportunity, while also fighting against his own Watcher Instincts, to push back the Watchers' trickery before they claim another champion.

Scar was excited about the idea of Secret life. It reminded him of demise, a fun minigame to pass the time. Better than that, he would get to spend more time with Grian, his best friend that is slowly drifting away.
Winning was the worst thing that could have ever happened to him.
He comes home broken, terrified and alone, four more seasons of memory suddenly smashing down on him. It was the most real thing he had ever experienced, and yet, nobody else remembers it happened.
Aka, Scar gets back from secret life tramatized and very very sore. Grian is not about to help, and people are starting to assume Scars going a bit mad lol

Without halflings, humans would be limited to the little magics: lighting candles, running a little faster, simple parlor tricks. Without humans, though, halflings would become consumed by their magic. Where humans were conduits, halflings were sources. Instead of slowly losing magic, however, halflings grow stronger as they age, and uncontrolled and unshared, become corrupted by their own magic. Some halflings can survive longer than others on their own, and some aren't powerful enough to ever become fully corrupted. But those that are, like avians?
We know them as Watchers.
