But the thing is, Snake's been trained to wait. One of the hardest parts of Miller's regimen weren't the grueling drills that pushed your body to its limit- it was learning to do nothing but stare at a vacant wall for hours and still remain alert. Compared to that, watching Hal slowly come apart under his hands is a goddamn treat.

Summary
An AU where Snake remained in the government's clutches as the perfect soldier of the Les Enfants Terrible project and is sent to investigate Armstech and their secret development of the bioweapon Foxdie. Hal works at Armstech as an engineer and catches his eye. Believing to find him suspicious, Snake keeps watch over him, only to quickly fall in love with him.
Hal is attacked by mercenaries when he gets too close to the discovery of Foxdie and is rescued by Snake, who he finds out has been stalking him. Together, Snake learns how to accept that he's a person, and Hal learns how to live without a mask.
