Summary
[Inspired by a tumblr post by lansplaining reimagining the Great Sects as individual stores in a weird little strip mall, which is so my jam it's not even funny]
It's midsummer in a mid-sized city like countless others scattered across America, and life for the families that own the cluster of businesses in the Jianghu Shopping Center on the edge of the town's business district is as full of small, pointless dramas as always. At least since everyone's here helping out for the summer they have the perfect excuse to hang out and pass the time that always seems to slow down molasses-thick and golden until the season's over.

Summary

Summary
Nie Mingjue wakes shortly before dawn, on a crisp, clear day. It’s foggy and mysterious, almost eerie - an effect made even so by the fact that there is… music coming from the beach.
The source of it is… impossible. It’s a mer. He’s sitting - laying, Nie Mingjue supposes, on a large, sloping rock, and he’s unlike anyone, anything that Mingjue has ever seen before.
OR, Nie Mingjue is a lighthouse keeper, and Lan Xichen is the merman who changes his life forever.

Summary
Five years ago, Nie Mingjue and his little brother, Nie Huaisang, disappeared from Koi Tower and from the cultivation world altogether until Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng, two boys accused of stealing from Chief Cultivator Jin Guangyao, happen upon Nie Mingjue while running from the Koi Tower Guard sent to capture them for a crime they didn't commit.
Curiously, Nie Mingjue is constantly seen traveling with a little hawk...

Lan Wangji had detention. Lan Xichen felt the world tilting on its axis. His obedient, rule-following, little brother had detention. He hadn't even explained why. He'd just asked for Lan Xichen to pick him up from school at 6PM.
