Sanji woke up. His arms were aching. He cracked his eyes open and saw that he was lying on a cold cement floor. His arms were tied in front of him, the rope digging roughly into his skin.
All he could remember from the fight was the walls pressing in on him. He’d used the narrow space to his advantage and managed a few clean, swift kicks to his opponents’ faces before his vision had gone black.
How embarrassing, to be so easily knocked unconscious.

“Char, I…” he stopped himself. Would this admission be too much? He didn’t want to pressure her, the last thing he wanted was to pressure her, when he understood all too well what it felt like. But he felt that careful, patient gase radiating from her warm chocolate eyes and he heard her smooth, quiet voice when she asked him ‘What is it?’. Maybe this wouldn't be pressure, maybe this would be finally calming the storm.
“I uhm, I kinda need you. I know this is gonna sound so dramatic, but it’s like, with Ray and Jasper, it’s different than with you. Like they get me, but you… you get me. You understand me, so perfectly, honestly it's kinda scary sometimes,” He let himself laugh dryly, and felt a rush of relief when he could hear her soft laughter accompany his. “Char, I just, I need you.”

“Sea water for the devils,” The man sings, his voice coarse and haunting as he leans over the hole and meets Sanji gaze through the porthole of the coffin. “Toiled earth for men.”
The man shifts out of view and Sanji’s breath catches tight in his throat as the first shovel of soil lands on the coffin. The sound of the dirt landing flatly on the metal echoing and real; way too fucking real. The blond presses his palms against the lid and feels a swell of panic again. Of energy coiling and frantic with no where to fucking go.
Another slap of earth lands on the coffin, then another. The rhythmic sound intermingling with the man’s rough whistling.

His hand is still on Wado.
“No way in hell,” Nami's voice rings out. “He’s not going anywhere, he's spoken for.”
This gives Bege pause, surprise flashing on his face before returning to a practised neutrality.
“Spoken for? As in—”
“As in, you can't have him,” Zoro should have let his Captain speak first, but his mouth opens almost on instinct, speaking over the big man as they join their crewmates.

Sanji had been waiting for about fifteen minutes now, which was too long, when Zoro only lived five minutes away. Which meant he’d either gotten lost or fallen back asleep. Sanji hoped it was the former.
If Zoro had fallen back asleep, then Sanji would have to deal with his stupid emotions on his own, which was something he didn’t want to do.
He supposed he could’ve called Usopp. Or Nami. They had cars, they’d come. But Sanji didn’t want them to see him like this, and if he was being truly honest, didn’t even want Zoro to see him like this—but out of everyone, Zoro felt like the safest bet.
Zoro was something guaranteed and normal—something familiar. He was always around Sanji these days, the two of them hanging out with each other when the rest of the gang couldn’t. He also wasn’t the type to look down on Sanji, had always insisted that they were equals. The rest of the gang would’ve looked at him in pity or something akin to that.
With Zoro, Sanji knew he was in good hands because Zoro knew him like the back of his hand and wouldn’t do anything to upset him, even unintentionally.
Or, Sanji has the worst day possible and immediately goes to Zoro for help.
