Hunter gasped dramatically as he glared at Gus. 'To think… I considered you… a brother.' Hunter wheezed out, letting his head fall limp to the ground.
'You were tagged, Hunter.'
'I was betrayed, Luz!' Hunter exclaimed."

It's a warm summer day, and Luz, Hunter, and the rest of the gang are bored. When Camila leaves for work, a suggestion of getting outside and enjoying the weather gives Luz the idea to introduce her friends to human games.
Cue Hunter and the others taking all of them very seriously, add in staffs and magic (and Hunter and Luz's competitive nature), and you have the kids having a fun day without any worries for once.

Luz gave Camila the most heart-wrenching look she had ever seen on her daughter. She looked like she was warring with herself and was on the losing side.
She certainly felt like it.
'You have always been my home, mom,' Luz said, her voice breaking as she finally got months of pent-up feelings off her chest. 'The Boiling Isle’s, my mentor, King, my friends, my girlfriend are my home, too. I don’t want to choose, because I can’t live without either.'"Or,
On a stormy night, two months after Luz and her friends are thrown into the Human Realm, a fight with her mother causes Luz to run away, questioning whether she deserved to call anywhere home.

"It had been six months since they had been thrown through the portal.
Last seeing their world torn apart by a child of chaos, they hadn’t seen their families since they left that fateful day, and with the crumbling world they were tossed away from, they were beginning to wonder if they still had family to return to, or if they could get back at all."
Luz does not want to admit that her and her friends have lost their loved ones in the Boiling Isle's. She doesn't want to believe that she'll never be able to give King another bone-crushing hug or have her hair ruffled by a grinning Eda.
With no way of knowing they'll ever return, though, maybe it is time for Luz and her friends to honor the ones they loved. Maybe then everyone will be at peace.

“Well, yeah, of course,” Apo scoffed, yanking away. “A person that already has a partner couldn’t even be considered—”
She went still.
“No,” she whispered. “No, there’s no way you’re suggesting that.”

It's an innocent question. Just one of those things that parents ask their daughter's friends. She asks it while Rumi helps herself to a delectable serving of galbi jjim, piling cuts of the meat onto her plate, and Rumi almost fumbles her chopsticks and drops a piece.
It's just a yes or no question.
Rumi, however, stops and very eloquently says: "Um."
OR: When Zoey's cousin invites all three of them to California for his wedding, Zoey is forced to navigate her and Rumi's newly-found feelings for each other while staying at her parents' house for four days. Zoey's trying not to explode, Rumi is an awkward, blushing mess, and Mira thinks it's the funniest shit ever.
