He confirmed to many an HR department that she definitely worked for him, uh-huh, five years in accounts? Absolutely, best accountant he’d ever had. She’d been ‘borrowing’ his vacuum cleaner for years now. He attended her grandpa's funeral.
Boyfriends and girlfriends came and went. Heroes and villains, dubious costumes and harebrained schemes.

He’d changed.
The expensive suit and watch were missing. Instead, he wore all black now. A long sleeve shirt, black slacks and black loafers. The black leather gloves were the only thing the same. This fact did nothing to calm my racing heart. Something told me the wardrobe change wasn’t a good sign.
“Oh. You noticed,” Roman Sionis said as he walked closer. “Blood is… difficult to get out of linen, so I like to wear something a little more… forgiving when I’m working. Or playing.”
He stalked up to me and grabbed my chin in an iron grip. Tilting my head this way and that, he hummed.
Then smacked me right across the face.
Right where Dylan had hit me earlier.
My lip split again; the scab ripped away by the casual violence. I cried out and held my freshly throbbing face with both hands. Blood poured out of my mouth and I let it drip onto the floor between my bare feet.
“You know what they say… do what you love and you’ll never really work a day in your life,” he intoned. A grotesque amount of glee in his voice. “You have a part to play now, doll.”
I was really beginning to hate that word.

At first, she thought it was a part of the weather—a particularly vicious gust rattling the old fire escape, or a piece of tin roofing torn loose and flung against her balcony rail. But then came the second sound: a raw, human exhale, sharp and guttural, and unmistakably close. Evelyn blinked, set down her glass, and leaned forward, squinting through the rain-glossed darkness. The fire escape’s upper landing, usually deserted and grimy, now hosted a slumped, broad-shouldered shape wedged awkwardly against the railing.

Summary
Judging by the way he sauntered around, unperturbed by the Dark Knight himself, Red Hood was dangerous. And he knew it.
There’s absolutely no way Batman, who refuses to use guns or kill the most despicable specimens Gotham has thrown at him, could consider this murderer a friend.
Barbara was missing something.
“Like I said Barbara, trust me,” Batman tossed over his shoulder as he swung into his Batmobile. “You’ll be fine,” he assured her—flippantly one could say—as the car door slammed shut between them. She stared after his disappearing taillights before slowly turning back to face Red Hood.
It was unsettling, not knowing where his eyes were focused. Intentional, no doubt.
“So. You coming or what, roomie?”
