Obi-Wan Kenobi arrives on Bandomeer as a Temple washout.
When Ben leaves Bandomeer, it's after an unexpected rescue from an unruly group of pirates. The Jedi have made it clear they don't want him, and his time as a slave in the mines has taught him the galaxy isn't safe. He learns from Hondo how to make a living as a pirate. When the Clone Wars breaks out, it's the perfect opportunity to make big profits so long as one keeps their head down and stays neutral.
But once Ben meets Commander Cody, neutrality isn't an option.

Obi-Wan had never thought of adopting an animal, like his master always had. But now he had and he didn’t regret it a bit, as he looked down at the contently purring cat in his lap. There was still the thing of explaining this thing to the council, but he had never seen that it wasn’t possible to adopt an animal, if it wasn’t going against the code of attachment . Or he could say, that this was the will of the force, as it was, from a certain point of view.
So what possibly could go wrong with it? He would just help a little creature and look after it. So what could possibly go wrong?…
And if it would, well he didn’t know if he could differentiate, that then with the things that normally seemed to happen around him.

“Cody…” Obi-Wan said softly, his expression shifting. His eyelashes fluttered faintly, a sudden nervousness creeping across his face—an expression the commander had never before seen directed at him. “I… I didn’t think you would do this here, now, if at all. I had perhaps a small idea of your affections after Scarif, but I didn’t believe you would be so bold. Though, with both of us grievously injured, I suppose you thought you had no choice but to be bold…”
Then the Jedi traitor looked at the commander with what could only be described as devastatingly sincere heart-eyes as the tension melted from his jaw, replaced by a relaxed, almost dreamy look. “Oh, Cody… I love you, too…”
Cody blinked once, then twice, then uttered a strangled, “Huh—ghhnnghh…?”
