Summary
Four years after the end of his last long term relationship, university professor Gustave Auclair's life has turned into a monotonous cycle on repeat. His dating life is non existent, his sex life is six feet under, and his younger days as a dominant are long behind him--that is, until he finds himself in a dominant/submissive arrangement with Verso Dessendre, one of the most highly sought after men in all of Lumieré.
It works just fine for them. They're extremely compatible, the sex is great, and the paycheck Gustave gets is even better.
It works just fine for them--until Gustave just *had* to go and catch feelings for him.
Because of course he did.

Summary
Verso Dessendre doesn't do romance.
He's fine by himself, really. He rarely needs anyone else other than his best friend, Sciel, to keep him company. Navigating the dating pool is a minefield on the best of days, especially for a man of his wealth and status, and wounds from the past keep his heart on a lock and key. He finds his pleasure by himself, and pours his frustrations with the world into the music he composes for a living. It's enough for him, most of the time. But somehow, some way, Sciel manages to convince him to start the search for a dominant, if only just to blow off some extra steam.
It doesn't go well.
Months later, Verso's just about to give up--before Sciel presses him to meet with one of her friends who's looking to get back into the scene. He relents, if only out of curiosity, and allows her to tell him more.
He's finds out quickly that he's not even remotely prepared for what comes with Gustave Auclair. Not one bit.

Summary
Gustave's expedition has turned out nothing like what he expected. He should be focused on the Paintress, but all he can really focus on is the mysterious stranger who saved him and Maelle at the Stone Wave Cliffs.
Did he have to be so damn hot?
Aka a Gustave falls in love in 5 moments fic (there are a lot more, but he was too busy staring at Verso to notice)

Summary
Verso is lying on the stone floor, almost indistinguishable from the broken bodies around him. Monoco flies down to him from a balcony; his feet hit the floor as he returns to his usual gestral self.
He thinks the landing was very graceful. Deserving of applause, even.
Verso doesn’t even try to look at him, missing the whole performance, and this is even more frustrating.
And… concerning.
Or: Verso is lost on Sirène’s island. Thankfully, Monoco is always able to find him.

Verso watches them while they crowd around him and pelt him with questions, and he knows he was right. Lune seems ready to set up a field laboratory to start experimenting on him, Sciel’s smile betrays all the indecent thoughts floating through her head, Maelle looks like a kid in a circus, and Gustave…
Gustave hugs himself with his only arm and backs away slightly, eyes wide open — horrified or disgusted, Verso is not sure in the dark.
Not having fun, that’s for certain.
Or: Verso tries to entertain the group with his "magic". It doesn't go that well with Gustave.

He should know that despite good intentions, his sentimentality has never ended well for him.
This becomes even more evident to him as he watches the picto he contained Gustaves chroma in, dissolve into his skin.

Soon though, they'll realize that everything isn't quite as it seems, and their existence is much more fragile than they had believed. Gustave, Verso, Lune and the others will have to push the boundaries of reality to secure a permanent future for their world.
OR: We can still fix it without a secret third ending! It'll just take a while. And may or may not involve rewriting the laws of physics.
