Tim’s mind scrambled desperately for something believable, something strange enough to explain his behavior without revealing too much.
Unfortunately, the first thing that came out of his mouth was:
“The cards tell me everything I need to know.”
Silence.
Tim felt his soul briefly leave his body.
Jason blinked. “What, like oracle cards?”
“Ew, no,” Tim replied instantly, horrified on reflex before his brain could catch up. “Tarot cards.”
Jason looked intrigued immediately.
Tim, meanwhile, was internally reconstructing his entire life around the lie he had just told.Or Tim becomes obsessed with magic, Jason Todd, and eventually Tarot Cards.

"The previous leader," Tim starts, and it might just be the lights in the cave, but he looks a little pale. "Do we know what happened to him?"
"No. There wasn't a lot of information about the change of leadership, but there was no news about his death. Why?" Bruce raises an eyebrow. Usually when Tim gets interested in one of the threats Bruce brought up, that's the one they should be keeping an eye on.
"Just wondering if there were a chance for a civil war-like situation within the ranks and if that would affect Gotham," Tim says, and he's lying; Dick just knows it. Tim always managed to foul Bruce—this time included—but Dick can see through him. He sounds just a little bit too casual, and the answer is just a little bit too practiced, like he already thought out what to reply. Nobody else notices, though.
or: one of Tim's old friends might be in trouble and there's nothing stopping him from trying to save them

Summary
It takes Tim three weeks to realize that he’s been exposed to something. His reactions have been off since that night at the harbour when Dick almost got thrown in the river and Bruce shoved Tim to one side to get to Dick and Tim fell face forward into a weird pile of grey dust and choked on it. The dust didn’t have any immediate effects, nothing obvious. It just made him gasp and cough and made his eyes burn under the cowl for a few seconds. Then he needed to check on Dick and then they got back to the Cave and he checked on Dick again and then Dick was saying something about a movie night and Tim found himself smiling and then he stayed over for dinner and the movie and thought nothing of it. It’s only now, three weeks later, that he wakes up in his room in the Manor and thinks wait, what? It’s only now, now that he’s flooded with sudden panic, that he realizes that he hasn’t felt anything resembling panic for three full weeks.
