But Tartah had stayed, stubbornly, no matter how Custas tried to scare him off. He had fretted over his condition and, when Custas kept snapping at him, had lifted his own left arm to show off the seal emblazoned on it.
"See?" He had said, with a tired whisper of a smile. "I'll never be able to lie to you again. That means we can be friends again, right?"
Custas hadn't answered, just stared blankly.
After the events of Silver Eve, Custas and Tartah lean away from everything else and lean into each other.

When they run into mutant hunters looking for new prey, Scott's decision to send the children home and go it alone angers pretty much everyone. It annoys Logan most of all.
