Akira might cry at this point. It’s stupid. He’s been through worse, he’s overcome so much, yet this feels like a breaking point. Everything he’s gone through will not matter as long as Maruki holds power. Now Akira himself is a tool to further this goal, to bring Akechi over to an insane man’s vision. He can’t retreat or fight against this, this isn’t even a normal war. How could it be when Maruki is oh so gentle with him.

Summary
Ren’s inner omega clearly wanted to help and nurture the people around him. Unfortunately, society had forced the boy to turn away from his softer side, pressuring him to act more like an alpha to defend himself and his loved ones.
Of course a young, traumatized omega would be skittish and unwilling to trust adults. Of course.
Maruki’s heart ached for the teen. Ren had been so willing to lend a helping hand to an awkward alpha like him, in spite of past betrayals. There was simply no way Maruki could turn his back on him, not when he had the power to help. There were too many people out there who would use and abuse someone like Ren.
