“He is, I promise honey. I’m looking after him.”
“Okay.” There’s uncertainty still in his voice, but obviously Ilya is aware there’s nothing more he can do from afar right now. “Okay. Thank you. Please. Please just…”
Yuna knows his next words before he even gets them out.
“Please keep them safe.”
And she’s all too quick to promise him. “Of course I will.”

Logan’s eyes widened immediately. “Oh.”
Shane smiled softly. “You know, when you blew out your candles?”
For a moment Logan looked suspicious, like perhaps wishes were classified information. Then he leaned closer dramatically. “I wished for Isla.”
Silence.
Shane blinked. “…Who’s Isla, baby?”
Logan looked at him like this should’ve been obvious. “My baby.”
Or Shane and Ilya give Logan the sibling he wished for on his third birthday.

Ilya gripped the envelope tighter. “The MVP,” he began slowly, still staring directly at Shane, “is…”
Another pain slammed into Shane so hard his vision whited out.
“…Shane Hollander.”
The room exploded with cheers and applause . People rising to their feet.
Shane barely heard any of it. His father hugged him first. Then Yuna. “Sweetheart,” she whispered against his ear, “you don’t look well. I don’t think you should be going up there alone..”
He couldn’t answer. He stood carefully. Ignoring the concerned look both of his parents threw his way.
The pressure between his hips was unbearable now. Every step toward the stage felt wrong. Painful. Wet. Why was it wet?
Or Shane goes into labor at the NHL awards with a son they didn’t even know existed.

"Moy solnyshko," Ilya smiles, it's strained. "Are you ready to leave?" His voices hitches mid-question; Shane notices and worries his lip between his teeth.
Irine nods excitedly in response. "Shoes on and everything?" He raises an eyebrow. "Yes papa" she chirps and bounds off his lap.
"Okay," the blonde huffs. "Let's get going then, yes Shane?" He looks expectantly at his husband.
Shane is zoned out, but at the sound of his name he snaps back into animation. "Yes, yes" he nods quickly. "Come grab your backpack, honey."
