“As I’m sure you know, we’ve been working on a much-needed city-wide reformation of the NYPD and the FDNY. I’ve been tasked with finding an innovative way to move our firefighters into this next chapter," Chief Strand tells them.
“Respectfully, sir, what does that have to do with us?” Eddie asks when it seems like the others aren’t going to.
“I’m developing a Firefighter Exchange Program with a pilot run happening this summer. We’ll take two firefighters from a dozen major cities and swap them in for 8 weeks. Your crew is the first I thought of.”
Eddie doesn’t need more than a second to consider.
“I’ll do it.”
OR
A summer in NYC is exactly what Buck and Eddie need after a year of loss and grief. With Chris attending a Science Program in Brooklyn, Buck and Eddie participate in the NYC Firefighter Exchange Program and learn more about themselves than they expect. From getting to know a whole new team, to reconnecting with old friends, to attending the NYC Pride March - they've got an entire summer ahead of them to figure things out.

“Are you and Buck fighting?” Hen asks curiously.
“No, we’re not fighting,” Eddie says. “It’s just…the Tootsie Pops are distracting, right?”
Hen’s eyebrows scrunch together. “Distracting? Distracting how?”
“Like he’s always sucking on them,” Eddie says, sure that once Hen understands, she’ll agree with him. “And Buck is Buck, so it’s really not appropriate for him to be doing that all day.”
“Buck is Buck? I’m not sure I follow,” Hen says, narrowing her eyes at him.
“He’s hot!” Eddie spits out and immediately regrets it. “Like objectively. Buck is objectively hot, right? So he shouldn’t be walking around like that just...sucking on things.”
OR
Buck organizes a Tootsie Pop-themed fundraiser with the 118 and Eddie finds himself more than a little distracted in the weeks leading up to it.

“You’re safe, I promise.”
“'Cause you’re here?” Buck asks hesitantly.
“You’re safe because you fought like hell to get out of there,” Eddie says with a quiet, half-hearted chuckle. “And also because I’m here and I’ll always fight for you. There’s not a sheriff, or a crazy old couple, or a gun that could have stopped me from getting you home safe.”
***OR***
On their first night home after Buck's kidnapping, Eddie gets a text that has him worried, so he and Chris rush to Buck's side and do what they can to get him through his first few weeks home. A Mother's Boy coda turned fix-it fic that explores what would have happened if Buck's cry for help came much sooner.

“You guys do this a lot?” Lucy asks, turning back to him. He smiles and shrugs.
“Sometimes,” Eddie says, sipping his wine. “It’s actually how Buck and I got together. We all fell into bed one night, and Taylor called us on our bullshit. He and I have been together ever since, and Taylor stops by occasionally for...well...this.”
“That’s kind of - I don’t know, cute? Is cute the right word for getting together via threesome?” Lucy giggles, her cheeks going pink as she sips her wine.
OR
While on a first date with Lucy, Taylor receives a text with a very intriguing photo from Eddie. When Lucy catches a glimpse showing Buck sprawled out wearing only a pair of lace panties, Eddie invites both women to join them.

“You know, all these years and you still haven’t taught me Muay Thai,” Buck said, the thought coming to him out of the blue one day at the station during morning chores. Eddie rolled his eyes.
“Thought Tommy was gonna teach you,” he pointed out, polishing the shiny metal of the ladder truck in front of them without even sparing Buck a glance.
“We had…other preferred forms of exercise,” Buck said, grinning, “never really got around to it.”
OR
Eddie agrees to teach Buck Muay Thai, and things escalate quickly.

Summary
"That is. Okay. Where do I start." Pushing off the counter — hands need to be free for this. "Number one. That is not how being secure in your sexuality works. Number two. That is the opposite of how it works. Number three. Most straight men who are secure in their sexuality do not, as a method of confirming this, seek out gay sex. That is— Eddie, that is gay. The thing you are describing is gay. The act of doing it is gay. There is no version of this where you end up more straight at the other end."
Eddie scoffs. "You don't know that."
"I do know that."
"You don't."
"Eddie, I am bi. I have personally conducted this experiment. The results are in."
Or,
Eddie asks Buck to fuck him to prove he's straight. Things go about as well as you'd think.Series

Summary
Eddie simply cannot know that he is currently naked. That would be catastrophic.
“Um, I— did you need anything? I’m kind of in the middle of something,” Buck says, which. Okay. That did not sound convincing. He adds, “I can call you back in ten?”
“I thought you just woke up?” Eddie says, and, fuck— Buck did basically say that.
Carefully, he says, “I did.”
“So what were you—?”
God, this is mortifying. This might be the worst thing that’s ever happened to Buck, and he’s been caught in, like, four natural disasters. And also struck by lightning. And had a fire engine fall on him. He even dated (he shudders at the thought) Tommy Kinard.
“Eddie,” he says. He doesn’t know what else to say.
“What? If you need to pee you can just mute yourself.”
“Eddie, that’s not—”
“Then what?” Eddie laughs. “If you’re still in bed, you can’t ha— oh.”
Or: Buck answers the phone in the middle of jerking off. For some reason, Eddie asks him not to hang up.

Summary
Buck chuckles, digging his fingernails into the expanse of Eddie’s hips. “Don’t forget the name of the game… truth or dare?”
“I hate you,” Eddie hisses as he lets his head hit the door with blunt force, the sound echoing throughout the empty house. Bad idea. That may hurt tomorrow.
“Feels like it.” Buck pauses to pull back, sweat dripping down his forehead, his cheeks blotchy and his nose beet red. Eddie wants to lick it up, wants to take another shot of tequila and chase it down with Buck’s sweat and a squeeze of lime. “You’re still so hard, Eds.”
Or; Eddie and Buck get drunk on tequila and they play a very intense game of Truth or Dare.

Summary
“So we’re into dudes now?”
Eddie tries not to let the amusement show on his face as he watches this weird version of Buck size him up. It’s reminiscent of their first meeting. Buck had acted like a complete idiot (he’d thought it was because he was threatened, but years later Buck will now finally admit it was because he wanted to fuck Eddie so bad it made him stupid). He’s got that same bratty look and attitude now.
“We’ve always been into guys, you just haven’t realized it yet.” Buck (3.0? Or is it 4.0 now?) says. Eddie’s not sure what model they’ve upgraded to at this point, but that doesn’t matter. His Buck, current-Buck, husband-Buck is speaking.
“Are you gay?” 1.0—that’s what Eddie’s taken to calling him in his mind—asks, a disgruntled look on his face. He’s actually quite cute. Smaller and leaner than the Buck Eddie first met when he started at the 118, he kind of reminds Eddie of a puppy. “Because I’m sure I don’t have to tell you this,” he waggles his eyebrows obnoxiously. “I really like women.”
“Bi.” Buck (husband-Buck) corrects, he’s got his arms crossed over his chest, defensive.
or,
Buck 1.0 time travels to a future where he and Eddie are married—everyone is handling it well.
