Summary
Clay considered himself a relatively rational guy. Like, sure, he had his head in the clouds—he was an astronaut, so why wouldn't he?—but he wasn't someone who believed in, say, ghosts or whatever. So waking up at the tender age of ten when he was pretty sure he was murdered at the age of twenty-three was a bit of a...confusing situation. But never let it be said that he wasn't capable of rolling with the punches because instead of spending three to five business days having a complete meltdown, he just dusted himself off and thought about what he was going to do next.
Not get stabbed, probably, but also like...maybe just enjoy being alive?
There weren't really manuals for dying and coming back to life so he was flying a little blind here.
So he sat his happy ass down and started thinking about what he remembered about the next thirteen years.
First things first: he was going to need to find and befriend Apollo as quickly as possible.

(People might assume that he is upset with his current host but they fail to understand how genuinely good of a host Gaku Maruko is. Because, believe it or not, Gaku Maruko is actually a very compliant host.)
(He could have gotten someone physically or mentally averse to murdering—like Shouma, who froths at the mouth at the mere thought of violence—or he could have gotten someone so openly reviled and distrusted that moving about would be impossible—like Takumi , whose callous slaughtering of Eito had made almost everyone distrust him and his motives. Instead, he got someone whose self-preservation instincts override any fear that might flow through his blood. A favorable host, all things considered, among a baker's dozen hosts-to-be.)
(Gaku Maruko would rather live than concern himself with the moral ramifications of murder. He is, after all, a self-serving coward. Perfectly pliable and reliable. Easy to be nudged into the right headspace for propagation.)

"How do you know about Zen'ta?" Now even Takumi sounds like he wants Gaku dead in a way he could never recover from. Fuck. Shit. Piss.
"I—" This is a shitshow. A wash. Gaku sags in Hiruko's grasp and stops fighting. Why fucking bother? None of this matters. "Fuck it. Just go ahead. This is a mess and I'll just give it another go next time. Can't believe that you got up my ass about being too Gaku. Fucking joke, all of it. Just my rotten luck." It always is.
He closes his eyes and bravely awaits his death. A death that...
...
...never comes.

Quite frankly one of the funniest, most in-character slow-burn explorations of self-healing I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Between the natural feeling dialog, the interesting AA-style pun names, and the rich world made to fill the space within the tantalizing 7yg, it never feels as though you're wanting for anything (even as it is currently on hiatus).
Also I deeply love how the author writes Eustace (Sebastian) because frankly that boy isn't as unintelligent as people paint him but he should use that reputation to his advantage. I'm biased though because he is my sopping wet son and I'm kiss him on the head.

The fact that this fic lives rent-free in my head so hard that I stop reading new fic to REREAD this one really says something about the quality of writing and the character work.
Anyway I personally think that Apollo and Trucy are the world to me and this is the best kind of time travel.

I think a lot about how disatisfying the whole World Ender Program shit is in DR3 and how much I love the narrative of SDR2 and in the end, this is what I wanted.
Take my hand. Let us experience hope together. Even if it hurts, even if it is a clawing effort, dragging ourselves out of a pit of darkness, we can be better. We can all get better.

Midoriya Izuku has always been written off as weird. As if it's not bad enough to be the quirkless weakling, he has to be the weird quirkless weakling on top of it.
But truthfully, the "weird" part is the only part that's accurate. He's determined not to be a weakling, and in spite of what it says on paper, he's not actually quirkless. Even before meeting All-Might and taking on the power of One For All, Izuku isn't quirkless.
Not that anyone would believe it if he told them.
