Summary
“That’s the thing,” Atsumu smiles, but it’s bitter, “They don’t teach us this stuff in school cause fated mates are so rare, but Bokkun and Akaashi-san are fated mates apparently so he knew what was happening before we did. Th’ only way ta stop th’ heat it triggers is ta, well…” Atsumu trails off and frowns again.
Osamu didn’t know Bokuto and Akaashi were fated mates, but his heart is in his throat right now so he chooses to gloss over that fact for now.
“Is ta what, Tsumu? You can tell me.”
Atsumu looks balefully up at him and without saying anything, pushes the collar of his Inarizaki jacket aside to reveal a large and garish looking mating bite. Still fresh.
Osamu’s jaw drops.

Summary
Except there are certain moments when Rintarou wants to melt into the ground. It's stupid. A flash of grey eyes in his direction and suddenly, he loses all sense of himself. For some reason, he can't figure out how to talk normally to Osamu when there isn't a volleyball to distract him from the way the corners of Osamu’s mouth crinkle when he laughs. No one warned him that the “quieter” twin could make him speechless.
So like any good coping mechanism, Rintarou leans heavily into the familiarity of teasing. His words still come out choppy, grasping onto whatever will hide his stutter best, but at least he's not just staring at the guy like an idiot. No, instead, he's making fun of how many different shapes his carrots are cut into.
