“I’m fine,” came the immediate reply, along with a little kiss pressed to his palm.
Porsche pulled him into a kiss, wondering whether this was yet another method of self-soothing Kinn had learned over the years. Repeating untrue words until he ended up believing them, protecting the image of the heir everyone hoped he’d be. Porsche did not need to hear reassurances, didn’t want to be just another person Kinn subconsciously tried to deceive.
“It’s okay if you’re not.”
The words were whispered against his mouth, and Kinn pulled back slightly, as if appalled by the presumption. Porsche sensed the possibility of an incoming argument.
“Ai’Kinn.” His hands slid down the other’s neck, resting on wide shoulders as he continued: “It’s normal to be scared, I was scared too.”
