Summary
The bomb in Veronica’s car is discovered before it can explode, and Logan Echolls doesn’t die.
Instead of losing him, Veronica and Logan are forced to confront what survival actually means—for themselves, for their marriage, and for the future they never believed they were allowed to want. Told in alternating POV, this canon-divergent fix-it follows LoVe in the aftermath of the almost-tragedy as they navigate trauma, intimacy, therapy, and the fragile hope of building a life in Neptune. Noir cases, emotional fallout, and hard-earned domestic moments intertwine as they choose each other again and again—and begin to imagine something more permanent than survival.
A Season 4 finale rewrite centered on Veronica and Logan, healing, and the quiet, terrifying possibility of happiness. -

Summary
“And, um, how long have you been in love with me?”
“Honestly? Probably for years.”
Years, he watches Buck mouth the word. His eyes slip past Eddie, his expression turning slightly dazed as he tries to process this new information.
“But I only realized it now.”
Buck’s eyes flick back to him, eyebrows shooting up in surprise. “Now?”
“Yeah, like, right now.” He looks down at the watch on his wrist, cocking his head back and forth. “About five minutes ago, give or take.”
“You realized you’re in love with me while watching me wipe chocolate off Theo’s face?” Buck huffs out a laugh, looking down at the now dirty wet wipe still clutched in his hands in disbelief.
Or, Eddie realizes he's in love with Buck on a Wednesday afternoon. This is how that goes.

Summary
“Fuck, I’m the interim captain,” he heaves. “W-we… I can’t...” he says weakly, trying to motion between them and the entire office.
Eddie doesn’t seem to be feeling the same kind of panic, or any kind of panic, at all. He looks peaceful. “You deserve the entire world,” he says softly, directly to Buck’s eyes.
Buck has half a mind to stop Eddie. “What about-” he tries to say, but is cut off with a moan. “What about the chain of command?” He gets out.
“Fuck the chain of command,” Eddie says certainly, giving no room for argument. And maybe, just maybe, he really is affected just as much as Buck, if he’s willing to go against his precious chain of command.
“Firefighter Diaz…” Buck intends the words to sound commanding, warning, and even, but misses by a mile. They come out as more of a pet name. Breathless, shaky, and loving.
or: Buck spirals about being chosen as the interim captain of the 118. Eddie spirals to his knees. In front of Buck. Making sure he understands just how much the title is deserved.

Summary
“Buck–”
“Eddie–”
They start at the same time, cutting each other off.
“Ah, you go first,” Eddie nods towards Buck.
Buck lightly trails over Eddie’s palms, feeling the hairs stand up on each one. He smooths them up towards his biceps, stopping and trailing back down as he intertwines their hands.
Eddie twists his arm, angling the back of Buck’s hand towards him, shoving his nose forward as he smells the clean scent from his laundry detergent on his shirt.
“Buck”, Eddie says quietly.
“Do you know what my favorite thing about you is?”Buck raises his brow.
“Your fingers.”

Summary
“Wait,” the man says, reaching out and tugging on Buck’s shirt.
Buck rights himself and looks down. There’s a small tear revealing a bruise right at his ribs. He sucks in a breath when the man slips his hand under, making contact with Buck’s flank as he lifts the shirt up.
“Jesus, he got you good,” he remarks before dropping the ice pack into the bucket. He continues pulling Buck’s shirt up, big brown eyes flicking up and down. Buck huffs and takes it off completely, swallowing when the man plants his hands on either side of Buck’s waist.
“Got you good, too,” Buck croaks, already painfully turned on. “Gonna be a shiner.”
When Buck starts a fight in a bar, a stranger comes to his rescue. Buck brings him back to his hotel to patch him up.
