"Beady black eyes gaze steadily at the lifeless form of the young woman before turning to the small body its existence was made for. It slithers forward slowly, reaching the baby boy’s bloody head, and stares at the gruesome wound. It dips its forked tongue into the still-pooling blood, before raising its head and slowly flicking its newly gore-coated muscle out into the air. It pauses, tilts its head in an eerily human manner, before it looks back down at the boy. Then, it strikes; so quickly a small flash of smoke strikes the air from the contact. Its fangs sink into the babe’s skull, and it releases its venom — the poison of its own creation — into the body’s bloodstream. The brute force of it drives sluggish blood to pump through weak veins and damaged arteries, and, with every gruesome, horror-filled second that passes, the baby's heart starts to beat again"

It’s a good thing she’s getting a second chance. Well… she hopes it is, at any rate. The world is so- so different now, that she can’t help wonder if it’s really a second chance, or just another world to mess up.
Humans are imperfect. We all are. Hailey Potter knows this better than most, because not only did Dumbledore fail to detect that portkey, but she herself missed… and unleashed Lord Voldemort on an unsuspecting magical world. It’s a good thing she’s getting a second chance. Well… she hopes it is, at any rate. Her minders in her new life aren’t nearly as mean as the Dursleys, but they care even less about her well-being. She’s a little worried that she’ll bungle everything in the end again, though.
