Summary
She had been standing for what felt like hours, back aching and hands bound, on the edge of the walkway above the ground. She’d tried to open her eyes but the sight of her own potential energy directing her to the vicious drop below was dizzying and she’d resolved to keep her eyes firmly shut until the inevitable happened or some sort of divine intervention took place.
Penance had been all but ready to give up hope entirely when the sound of Amalia’s voice bouncing off the pipes caused a flood of relief so strong that it was almost enough to push her quite literally over the edge. The relief was short lived, however, and quickly replaced by the paralysing shock of Amalia firing a pistol into her own gut.
