Summary
Thunder booms and the cave walls tremble.
Tails flinches from the noise and wonders if he should’ve kept his eyes open, but the flashes of lightning and the anticipation of the thunder was as scary as the noise itself. So, he kept them closed.
It’s the worst storm they’ve seen since joining Sonic on his adventures. His tails are curled tighter than normal against him tonight, he is trying to be brave. He is not so sure he is succeeding.

“You’re getting tall.”
Tails brought his gaze down from the night sky and stared at Knuckles, “ I am?” he asked, with a hint of pride in his words.
“He is?” Sonic questioned from his place by the fire, with the indignant tone of someone who just got told the sky is red.
“Yeah,” Knuckles nodded and, ignoring Sonic, continued. “I realized it when I talked to you earlier and didn’t have to glance down as much as usual.”

Summary
Tails is a hero. Dependable, threatening, responsible. Which makes him an adult in the eyes of many– he’s a war veteran, after all. Fought to take back their world just the same as anyone older than him. He’d manufactured the wispons, and he was expected to wield them and himself against any threat possible.
It didn’t matter that the radio-silence from Sonic and the pressure caused him to run away. He’d returned. He’d grown up. He had to.
It just meant that he had to grow faster. So he did, and he will– Tails is excellent at changing himself for the sake of others. It’s what he grew up doing, and it’s what he’ll keep doing.
So it starts with a favour.

Note to Editor: This summary is awful and reads like teen-lit. I would prefer something a little more professional.
Consider: 'Eridian and human relationships are markedly different. The relationship developed between Dr. Ryland Grace and Rocky and later Dr. Grace, Rocky, and Adrian differs greatly from human connotations of 'friendship.' This essay intends to explore these the relationship between Dr. Grace as a way of understanding Eridian relationships and seeks to find comparable human relationships."
Note to Author: Far too academic, the reader wants to get to know you better. Try adding more evocative language.

On the final deceleration burn to Erid, the spin drives on the Hail Mary stop unexpectedly. Grace and Rocky have to scramble to find and fix the problem before they plow through 40-Eridani like a drunk Floridian driver plowing through a 7-Eleven.
