Also, there's only so many dishes he can do before he seriously starts to contemplate the merits of re-acquiring a drug habit. (It's not like it could kill him anymore, right? Haha. Kidding.)

The last few moths things have been messy
They were always messy for mutants — but this time it was worse. Crueler.
The Avengers were dealing with HYDRA again. The X-Men stayed out of it. Not their fight, and Scott had made it clear they would stop helping if that courtesy was never returned when it came to them. the other X-men accepted that very easily
But things are never simple when mutants are involved.
When HYDRA started experimenting on and trafficking mutant children, the X-Men had no choice but to intervene. They rarely arrived in time. Most of the kids were already dead — or already gone.
Except this time.This time, Remy LeBeau and Anna Marie, better know as Gambit and Rogue, found one still alive.

Her hand slammed down on the flashing button, accepting the comm before the sound took the opportunity to make her head explode. What to expect, she honestly wasn’t too sure. Considering the circumstances- it had been about a month since they’d properly spoken- she was sure it was a butt-dial or something. Kara bent down slightly, attempting to pick something out through the heavy buzz of radio feedback through her low-quality speaker. For several seconds, she just listened, unable to hear much beside the faint rustle of fabric. Dumbass. As she had suspected, it was a butt-dial, a mistake. Kal knew better than to rely on her to save him.
Just as she reached forward to cut the comm, sound broke through, the unmistakable deep grumble of her cousin. It was a sound she heard rarely, though she understood it's weight the minute it echoed through the call; defeat.
“Kara- Please- Kara, can you hear me?”
Or- Kara Zor-El gets a distress signal from Clark while he's being held captive in Lex Luthor's holding cell. Reluctantly, she goes after him. However, not even Supergirl is immune to the green kryptonite poisoning her cousin.
