“Maki,” he repeats, and it’s like a missing piece of his soul falls back into place. The record of his life before he fought the Six-Eyes brat is a long, impossibly white scroll of nothing -- but written on it in faint letters is the name of a child, a child with a delicate name that brushed the heavens, spun a prayer into letters; a name that began with an M, and it ended in i, too.
“Maki,” he says again. “I think you’re my daughter.”

Some things can never be explained by logic. The universe will never see fit to explain HOW four orphans on a boat in the middle of the ocean ended up on a battlefield just in time for a man's destiny to change. There will probably never be an explanation for how three children who had already proven time and time again that they did not need a parent ended up with one when it was already too late for them to rely on him, but one thing can be said with certainty: every so often, the universe might see a wrong. And every so often, on very, very rare occasions, the universe might see fit to apologize the only way it knows how to: it offers to its victims a second chance.
Or: Jaster Mereel thought he was destined to only have his one son. He was not expecting to turn around and get four more. Children are a blessing to the Mandalorians, and Jaster is fairly certain he's the luckiest Mando there is.

The jinchuuriki are tied down by a long list of both written and unwritten rules of things that they aren't supposed to do. Playing Peek-a-Boo with the vessel of the Kyuubi is probably at the top of that list.
