    Summary

    “Michelangelo?”

Mikey’s head snaps up like a rubber band, so fast it hurts his neck. His father is standing in the doorway, whole and unharmed and strong. He tilts his head, taking in the probably dumb way Mikey is just standing there staring up at him.

He’s alive. In this moment, in this memory, he’s alive. But just a minute ago he was dying, he was choking on blood and then he was gone, and no matter how many times Mikey cried for him he didn’t come back.

Mikey’s chest feels like it’s closing around all his squishy insides like a fist. It’s really hard to breathe in a way that isn’t just desperate gulping gasps for air, so he holds his breath. It’s a good and useful thing that aquatic turtles can do it for a long time.

“I thought you and your brothers had left already,” the rat says mildly.

“We did? I mean, uh, yeah, we did,” Mikey says. He watches Splinter’s expression tighten in tiny inscrutable ways, and knows he didn’t do a very good job of sounding normal. So he clears his throat and finds a lopsided smile and tries again. “I just had to come back for something.”

The color ranking for a quirks threat level? The different laws and regulations because of it? Amazing. A head cannon that will always live on in my mind.

Izuku is back in his kitchen at two in the morning, trying to steal a handful of cereal because he hasn't eaten in three days, and Father is sneaking down the stairs. He instantly scans his environment for somewhere to hide. When he finds nothing but a door he doesn't recognize--too risky, he doesn’t know how loud the hinges are--he falls back on his last resort. He’ll find him first.
I'm actually a little surprised cereal exists in the Midoriya household, the fact that he wasn't worried about the sound of a bag making crinkling noise speaks volumes to the type though.

Also, the door hinges squeaking and finding AFO first? Big mood.

    “Let’s be friends!”

Katsuki pulls away. “Not gonna happen,”

“Sounds great! My name’s Kirishima! Let’s exchange numbers later!”
^exactly how I imagine their friendship began

It's the little details that really add to this:

Students begin classes on different days depending on their course? Hell yes. That's a huge thing where I live throughout all your schooling years. Younger years start a day or two early so they can get settled into a new environment.

Izuku freaking out when he's called to stay behind a listing a bunch of possible reasons in his head that seem unlikely(impossible) for Eraser to know, but AFO definitely could.

Heroics being about every department and how they interact

“Oh right,” Ochako begins, eyes widening. “We have connections.”
^every hero student worth their salt should know the importance of connections, but growing up in a less than advantageous money situation, you had best bet that Chako got grilled into her from a young age how important knowing people is.

The kid in a suit--fuck it--Iida takes a step forward
^Shouto mentally distancing himself and then deciding it's tedious

Uraraka cringes and asks, instead, “Do you want to talk about heros?"
^this whole interaction and Izuku for sure feeling caught out

Noticing Shouto in pain and not bringing it up

Mei throws the door open and startles when she sees not Power Loader, but two first-year students. One is a boy with curly dark green hair and a polite smile.
    ^observant.

The entire magnetic boots interaction, It was so deliciously manipulative.

    Izuku consistently catering to everyone

--Nemuri only does because she spent her childhood training herself to notice her mother’s near-spontaneous mood flips.
    ^this

He doesn’t forgive her--no, it isn’t that. He probably doesn’t believe her.
    ^there is a huge difference.

AFO occasionally taking away Shiggy's quirk and therefore making his constant use of it a reminder for himself-
And Kurogiri trying to minimize punishment because of his loyalty of Shiggy not being over AFO, but bring greater affected than AFO by the outcome of the punishment.

“All you did was waste time.”
    "You couldn’t attack, could you?”

^giving someone tools and then belittling for using them

I had a bunch of quotes from the Tomura in Australia bit so just know that I absolutely loved it.

Student council!!! Also, I'm equally divided on the sports festival argument. Izuku pretty much lined up with my view on that side of things, but the rest of the council was a off. It's also really cool to see students out of 1A talking about this :v

—take away one of his quirks, sure, but with the Sports Festival coming up Izuku isn’t sure how motivated he’d be to do that.
    he doesn't know

Weighing which rules matter more and will be cause for the least amount of reprimand

Shouta nods and says a gruff, “Thanks,” which he knows fails to portray the weight of the gratitude he feels.
    ^Mutual trust

Glad to see some unmotivated student body representation at the start of the race there. Do you kow how hard it is to keep a consistent place in something like this? Respect.

    Good thinking Mei!

    Skilled parents scare me.

I feel like I've heard the name wordsmith before

'Carry a clipboard and act like you belong, 'his father likes to say. 'If you act confident you can get away with anything—you can accomplish anything.'

Chapter twenty-five really gotta be like that huh?
It’s the only way Sorahiko will ever be able to forgive himself for pushing Midoriya too far.

Fuck Midoriya Hizashi, just fuck him.
    Shouto is an angel
    Fucking Shinsou
“Izuku," Father continues. "I’m so proud of you.”

    Summary

The cloak was midnight-blue with intricate gold patterns stitched into it. He had a distinct memory of seeing those patterns lit up and glowing like a candle flame, and of sitting on a sand dune next to a campfire watching another girl with white hair and a mask sew them, but that was a long time ago, and the cloak’s former splendor had been lost since then. It was tattered to the extent that it was practically just a bundle of rags held together by love and hope. He hardly dared to touch it for fear of finally ruining it, and part of him longed to wear it again, to reach for the skies like he once did with no fear of falling.

He closed the chest and headed for the door, leaving the cloak where it had laid for the past twenty years.
